Do you think the Government would allow the cigarette industry to go under with all the taxes they are collecting?

The Republicans aren't that united anymore. After the Sarah Palin fiasco and with Micheal Steele being an idiot things started changing. Look at the whole Tea Party movement. The thing is that the Republican strategy has been for years a Shock and Awe strategy. Find something real to complain about but blow it out of proportion then use that as a stepping stone to get to there real agenda. That's how we got the Iraq war, Patriot Act, Gitmo, ect, ect. And now their new target is illegal immigration you can tell its a bullshit move. Obama has been a lot tougher on immigrants than Bush but still gets a lot of shit about it. And you don't hear much about punishing businesses that are hiring illegals all they are worried about is keeping them out. The thing is you can't keep ants out of your kitchen with just bug spray you have to get rid of the crumbs and such that they are eating or they will keep coming back.

Actually the big problem with the Democrats is they try to be bi-partisan to show they are better than the Republicans instead of steamrolling them like Bush did with the Democrats. I mean look at what they did with with the vote for health care for the first responders. Made it so they needed a 2/3 vote instead of a simple majority. On top of that Obama is a second Bush with tax cuts the wars and renewing the Patriot Act.

I think it is arrogant and counterproductive to Islamic/US relations for them to build this symbol near ground zero, but the laws of this land say they can. That's what makes the US different than, e.g., Iran or just about any Islamic nation. I wonder what the world's reaction would be were Jews to build a huge synagogue on the site of the first Iranian nuclear reactor they bomb into smithereens. Or the liberal reaction had Bush said that the muslims have the right to build next to Ground Zero.

That depends are you talking about a radical Jewish terrorist group that is looked down upon by well over the majority of non radical Jews or are you talking about the Israeli army? Also are you talking building one where the rubble is or a few blocks away in an old building? And I wouldn't worry about the liberal backlash if Bush did it because it would pale in comparison to the shit storm he would get from conservatives. Remember the liberals are the ones trying to get the church out of the courts and creationism out of our schools not the conservatives. Plus whats with all this right next to ground zero(and why capitalize ground zero?) crap its two NY city blocks away? There is already a mosque like 4 blocks from there and no one is hooting and hollering about that.
