    It might not be that at all... Airborne might just have a contract that goes. Anything for Dell gets dropped off FIRST and ASAP. They probably have several trucks, drivers and what not set to do the tasks each day. It isn't like its one guy dropping off one or a few packages, I am sure they get a shiatstorm of stuff everyday.

    A very long time ago, I heard that SETI@Home was running low on work-units because their client was so popular that they were just burning through them... Did they restructure it? What happened. I remember when I heard that I started downloading work-units that were taken by the dishes more recently then I had been seening too...

    I meant "the internet" as web, mail, and IMs. Most of the people that use it don't know about anything else, even if they do use anything else, it just doesn't exist in the way I understand it.

    Its akin to a car, most people know that their car is made up of 100s of parts, they don't know how they work but they know they are there. The internet on the other hand people know about web, mail, IM, and maybe gaming but they couldn't tell you that there is more to it than that...

    I don't want to hear much about that case. I want to hear about the case where the IP is off a few digits and they bring the IP owner to court to find out that it is the IP of a completely different, unrelated filesharer, just to show how widespread this issue is.

    The RIAA is being VERY STUPID. The only thing they are going to do is make P2P stronger. Probably stronger than the internet.

    It will eventually become very decentralized, very efficient, probably encrypted, use really good hash file verification systems.

    And it is going much faster than it probably would have if the RIAA didn't step in....

    Yeah, I know... I should have bought more CDs...

    Anyhow, I should try and clear what I was saying. The RIAA excuse is they are sueing because nobody is buying music. They claim this by showing CD sales going down for 3 years or something like this... Even though the economy has been declining for a little longer than 3 years...

    Nope, not the case. Any smart ISP would dump the logs after a set amount of time. 1 month to 2 weeks. There is no real need to keep them longer... Unless you want to help to prosecute your customers... Which might not sit well with your customer base...

    3 years ago CD sales went down....

    Think that's a coincidence.

    Also CD sales don't count as much since we got the legal downloading music DRM bullshit now... You have to count those eggs too....

    Hmmm... That sounds wrong, that sounds more like an ANARCHIST way...

    Communism is about everyone getting a fair share of the pie. With the ocean it is not like that. A giant freighter with nets will take more in than a small two man craft...

    With Anarchism, everyone owns everything, as long as you hold control over it. This holds well for the ocean because you can hold control over pieces of ocean and they are yours as long you can hold on to them.

    The reason for the revocation is not embarrasment, it is his unethical behavior. And the rules for getting and keeping your doctoral degree ( in German Promotionsordnung) clearly state that your PhD will be revoked if it is used for unethical or criminal purposes. So in this case the university really has no choice.


    Bah, well there goes that whole "I got a PhD, you better pay me PhD salary if you want these WMDs to work....

    It worked... Just I don't think they had the budget or real use for it... Nice gee-whiz factor, and good technology to have incase we ever needed to do a large scale amphibious landing... Then again, we don't use that anymore, we can bomb anything back into the stone age in a couple of days....

    PENNDOT, or the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has many offices for driver's licenses and state ids... At every office I have visited, they do not accept cash at all... I find that absurd that essentially the same government that issues the "legal tender" money we use, will not accept it in certain offices to pay for transactions that almost all citizens have to use at some point...

    The reason for this would be that the government doesn't: trust their employees, trust their citizens, or might not trust their own monetary system.

    Although I think this solution is the simplest they have available and is why they are using it, but surely there must be something other than getting a check, money order, and they don't accept credit cards either....

    The solar panels get covered with dust, and NASA has investigated solutions to stop that even using windshield washer type things and what not... all the solutions turned out to be worthless, impractical, and a waste of weight... NASA likes to equip multiple backup systems and they simply can't with that. Ultimately the solar panel cannot collect enough power and the battery dies... Mars isn't exactly a very nice enviroment to work in either... dust storms that last for days or longer...

    Home robotics kits couldn't do nearly anything these guys do... We would have to send HUNDREDs of home robotics kits to even get close to the results of a couple of our rovers... The failure rate would be higher on those kits too...

    If the Industry is actually serious about this... then we need to treat them the way we treat other people that act insane and admit them to the psych ward for evaluation. If they continue on this path, the next thing they will want is royalities from you for humming the song or singing along during a concert.
