The largest part of California's grid is powered by natural gas (40%), which is far, far less polluting than ICE's. About 10% from large hydro plants. Another 14-15% comes from other renewable sources (wind, solar, biogas, etc.). Well less than 10% of California's electricity comes from coal plants.
Actually, he was asked to list all previous cases he was involved in. He was asked if he "ever" had been involved in such a case. He raised his hand and cited his most recent case. Nobody asked him about any previous cases.
I'm not against the case phenomenon. I understand that people want to personalize their phone. There are lots of iPhones out there and a number of people want theirs to look different and thus, install a case. I'm completely fine with that. I just feel that the phone shouldn't require a case to hold up to daily use.
Mine hasn't required a case. I've had a few drops (including on concrete), and the phone has survived just fine. Never broken a screen yet.
the iPhone doesn't use gorilla glass or equivalent, it uses a much cheaper, weaker material than just about all flagship Android devices (the Galaxy Nexus is one exception I can think of). As such, the iPhone objectively has a weaker screen and is hence more likely and more prone to breaking whatever your anecdotes might say. As for the Blackberry I can't comment, but certainly there is objectively some truth in what the GP is saying - the iPhone has a much weaker screen than one would normally expect for the price, particularly when comparing to it's main competition, so it would make sense that on average it ends up with a broken screen more so than at least most equivalent Android (and for that matter, Windows Phone) handsets.
Umm... no. But really lousy try at trolling.
The original iPhone was the first device to bring Gorilla Glass to a consumer product, and they have used it ever since. Up until the iPhone was introduced, Gorilla Glass was shelved technology at Corning that they thought would never have a commercial application. Jobs approached the president of Corning because he was unhappy with the prototype screens that were so easily scratched. You can thank Jobs for introducing Gorilla Glass to ALL mobile phones.
One of the keys to Apple's success is the unshakeable conviction that "Nobody wants X--until Apple figures out how to do it right."
Meh. Buying Apple is like buying a LEGO kit, where all the bricks are pre-glued together. But I guess the majority of people like it that way.
You're just now figuring out that the vast majority of the population don't live in their mom's basement and spooge over themselves building computers?
So people who work as EMTs or as nurses who have to actually talk to and care for victims, don't you think they'd have the worst PTSD of all? What about people who have to do autopsies?
You're incredibly naive. I'm an emergency physician. I'll bet I've seen more fucked up shit in one week than you will in your lifetime, unless you've served in the military in active combat, and even then I doubt you've seen the outcome of child abuse.
People in my line of work do get burned out, do get PTSD, and do require counseling from time to time, and we only see the aftermath. And we don't actually see the bad deeds happen. It's much easier to distance yourself from the events when you only have to deal with comforting the injured. I've been mugged at gunpoint and been struck on the head multiple times in the mugging, and that had me looking over my shoulder for years. It affected me more than all the other shit I've seen in my life combined.
Autopsies are pretty sterile things. I've been in on a few. Not a big deal. Dead body? Seen lots of those.
Could be Gzmodo's strange slant at work, but Ronald comes across as being an unstable and bitter obsessive. Doesn't mean he's wrong. Does suggest an agenda.
The fact that he is a bitter obsessive is a pretty strong indication that he was in the wrong, as well has having an obvious agenda.
I'd argue nobody in their right mind is buying a new $1500 laptop every three years, even.
And you'd be ridiculously narrow-minded about it. Just because that level of expenditure isn't reasonable for you doesn't mean it isn't reasonable for somebody else who has greater work needs or just a lot more money.
My mid-2009 MacBook Pro is now over 3 years old with pretty heavy use. No sign of needing a new battery. YMMV of course, but it's lasting longer than I expected.
Yep, jumping on the convergence bandwagon was the stupidest thing they could do, which was pointed out by quite a few smart people.
They had a good thing, and decided to drop it for the chance of becoming a big player on the smart phone market.
Then they sold the sinking ship to Carly.
If I could get a device in Palm V size and quality with today's technology that isn't a phone, I would love it. A tablet is just too big for the pocket, and the battery life sucks compared to what PDAs had.
There's a whole group out there who have retrofitted 15" 2048x1536 panels into their Thinkpads, for example. They usually don't run any special scaling settings, but just let the OS render things as-is to a fraction of the "common" size, with whole lists of people wishing they could do the same to their hardware.
I have at least 10 browsers on this MacBook Pro, slightly fewer on my Ubuntu and Debian boxes [...] Lots of us developers collect browsers for testing against.
One OSX and two Debians. It appears to me that you are missing a significant browser market share (and I'm not talking about Lynx).
This being said, I'd be curious to see the user agent stats for nambla.org - maybe the FBI or NSA could tell us.
The MacBook Pro can run Windows natively or in a virtual machine.
Anobit was supposed to have concentrated on decreasing errors in flash memory, so it seems possible even likely that Apple bought them specifically to address this problem.
Two times I've had a flu shot. Both times, I got a flu for a week straight afterward with temperatures in the 100s. Probably not the same flu, but thanks for weakening my immune system when I needed it to fight off the actual flu that's going around...
You have a fundamental failure to understand how vaccines work.
Yes. Apple is making a claim on the patents that Kodak tried to use to sue Apple for. The stem from a joint venture back when Apple introduced the first consumer digital camera and an agreement between the two companies on who owns the IP stemmed from that venture. Apple is claiming that the agreement between the two of them gives Apple the technology they used in that venture, as well as any improvements based upon them. Kodak opened Pandora's box when they sued Apple.

... what pot are the smoking when the set the price point ...
Something wrong with the 'y' key on your keyboard?
He keeps hitting extra "t"s instead? Or maybe the wanker just can't spell.

Because one of the parties in the case has a history of buying judges and politicians to get the results they want?
Apple is a member and patent holder in the MPEG patent pool. So you're wrong.

Exactly my plan, because when the detailed specs are ANNOUNCED the rumor becomes news. I suspect it will be a marginal improvement at best.
The 4S was a marginal improvement. It sold more than all previous generations of iPhones combined.
Most recent generation? Works fine on the iPhone 3GS from over three years ago.
No wonder they laid off his whole building.

Wow! A "whole group"! That's statistically significant sampling there. I'm convinced.
About as accurate as Taco's iPod take.

Plus GP misquoted the Shakespeare.

Not even close.
And you're still a fucking retard.
-1 Retard.
