Neither's Windows. It's just better at disguising it's lack of ease of use beneath shiny dialog boxes and cutesy animated dogs. Peel away the surface and you'll find the same scary complicatedness that makes up any operating system. People (for values of "people" that don't include "hardcore techies") just want things to work, preferably without any independent thought and an absolute minimum of dialog-, manual- or FAQ-reading. I wonder just how helpful this attitude has been in helping M$ secure their position.
Absolutely true. You can still see older buildings in Scotland (where I live) with "fake" windows - there's an appropriately-sized window shape in the wall, but it's solid stone and the window's just painted on over it. People used to make these when they wanted to avoid paying the window tax, but didn't want to spoil the symmetry of their house.
...are all "hypo-allergenic" breeds (don't produce dander).
That doesn't mean that they won't trigger an allergic reaction. I'm allergic to cats (as well as more or less anything with hair, barring humans and rodents), and was invited over to a friend's place. Said friend had a pair of cornish rexen and regaled me with tales of their non-histamine-inducing benefits, so I decided to leave the antihistamines at home. Lost a significant percentage of my body weight in tears and snot that night.
Of course not. My point was that the presence of the cameras didn't do anything to deter the killers, and that all the surveillance present in the UK is doing little more than providing a false sense of security.
I wish there had been a camera at the spot where it happened. I fucking wish!
I wouldn't assume that it would have done you any good at all - I live in Edinburgh, in an area that's fairly extensively covered with CCTV cameras. On my way to work, I pass through the FOV of at least 5 of them, 3 of which are located in a shopping precinct.
A guy was stabbed to death in said precinct a few months ago, under full view of these cameras. No-one's been caught, because the attackers were using state-of-the-art counter-surveillance devices, known as "Hoodies".
...every time the Mac vs. PC debate rolls around - I use (and support) both kinds of machine extensively in my job, and can conclusively say that by far the worst thing about either platform is the users.
If "The epicenter was 4.7 miles below surface", then that would be the centre (or the center, since this is the US we're talking about). The epicenter is the point on the ground directly above the center.
Linux isn't easy.

OK, I'll bite - exactly how does one donate tissue samples via PayPal? Last I heard, they only dealt with money.

How does that help Jamie Bulger, exactly? He's still dead...

I guess you get to keep on secretly dreaming about Spidey coming out of the closet to declare his interest in you
Hmmm...
I was ready to uninstall Exchange 2K when I realized users would not be able to function.
And the problem is..?

I hope so - I've had an Escher design (dragon) tattoed on my right arm. How exactly am I going to Cease & Desist that?

Had to say it. I'm sorry. I'll go away now...
