that the computer industry came up with the word in

They pocket the difference, if this had of happened
with RAM chips you would have seen an uproar but
becuase their size is so small you can't get away
with that rubbish. All Ram is sold using Base 2 still.

I'll admit now that I'm no device driver expert, my main skill is applications. But I just wanted to ask how does knowing how to right a device driver for a product help with copying the hardware?. You can copy a hardware product without the need for the drivers, simply by cracking open the case of the chip and examine the design underneath. The point being that at the moment the only way for a hardware company to know that their design has been compied is to physically check the design of the competing product. Therefore releasing the specs for the interface for a hardware product can hardly be that damaging, remember that the competitor will still have to come up with a design that doesn't copy the original to a point where they can be sued.

Is it just me or has everyone forgotton that this is pre-release software of a completly new broswer. Yes it has porblems with crashes and bugs, but then so does every new piece of software. Give the sucker time to develope and grow. Christ do you all think that Apache was imediately stable, or Linux or Windows95( Sorry couldn't resist! :-) ) Remember in time if all goes well, we will have a stable standards compliant web browser which will run on nearly any platform you want, and it will be totally customisably. You may not want to use it full time now, so stick with Netscape 4.7 or IE5, just becuase you use them now doesn't mean that you will never use another broswer in the future, remember when everyone was using Mosaic?
