Indeed, which is the whole problem, still reliant on fossil fuels. This technology gets you off fossil fuels, and is the point of the grandfathers post.
Just don't rely on the APC sizer online. They claim something like 7 hours runtime for the APC 1000XL with a UX24BP(the monster battery pack). Actual runtime at the load specified is just over 3 hours.
APC claimed it was because of the APC power bars plugged into the unit.
APC will politely tell you to not even think about it.
Had an older unit that used something like 15 AH battery, and asked them about using the panasonic replacement which was something like 17ah. they wouldn't talk to me at all beyond saying no it can't be done.
But then again, considering they don't care about the security holes in their powerchute plus 5.02 software either, I'm not all that surprised
My Verbatim 32x10x40, which is the Liteon LTR-32123S.
There's a hacked firmware out there which turns it into the LTR-40125S, which adds Mt. Ranier support and runs at 40x burn, 12x rewrite, 48x read, instead of the 32x10x40.
One thing I'm looking for is how to have the dry contacts only report to the snmp, not email/page me about everytime one is triggered. For now, procmail looks like the best way to just silently drop the email.
Even more interesting is when you consider SCO just hired an ex-SuSE VP of International Business, to be the VP of SCOSource.
And that McBride comes from being a VP at Novell...
The SCO Group Announces Appointment of Gregory Blepp
"Free for all"?
Since when?
Only way you can possibly get free emergency care is if you give them a fake address and name and hope they don't check your ID.
Even with a 20 drive raid1 array, that's not enough for one reason.
Lightning. Well, a bunch of other things that can destroy the machine too.
But you always need backups. And you always need a copy of that backup somewhere offsite.
Or worse, gold plated TOSlink cables.
Yup, i've got a pair of boards from some old 21600's and 31600's for just that purpose.
still have a bunch of machines running off 1.6 gig drives at the office.
I presume you mean Raid1.
One drive in a raid0 is enough to cause total loss, no matter how many drives you have.
Especially handy when some twit has stripped the phillips screw and all your screwdrivers are useless now. Just hex the head out :)
Assuming you don't want to screw around with font sizes.
Get a 21" LCD that has a native resolution of 1600x1200.
Run it at 800x600. This makes it map each pixel to 4 pixels(2 vertical, 2 horizontal), which will scale perfectly no matter what.
Congrats, you now have a 21" 800x600 monitor.
and by that time, it's time to go home!
Every plane I've been on(dozens of flights) in the last 2.5 years has had the cockpit door open until just before taxi-out.
And it's open once you're at the gate on landing.
Say, can you print out one of your pr0n pics, and see if netscape resizes it to full page there as well?
If it handles it onscreen and on a printer, I'll be impressed.
You can keep the printout.
Checked, and there's still no mail notify like nsnotify, unless I'm missing something somewhere in the setup or the program directory.
if only they'd bring back the mail notification program that 4.x had.
That's the sole thing holding me back from switching people at the office over to 7.x
Indeed, which is the whole problem, still reliant on fossil fuels. This technology gets you off fossil fuels, and is the point of the grandfathers post.
And does anyone actually believe that the fossil fuels industry will lie down and let this happen without a fight?

Guess what happens to someone bringing 400 rolls of film through Customs?
ssh1 only though!
So does this mean i can play NES games on the emulator for the PSX, under XBox?
Or does that rely on hardware tricks with the PSX hardware?
How is a 41 year old man called a boy?
Circuit city had 7200 rpm 120 gig WD 8 meg cache(the 120JB) for 180 minus a 100 dollar rebate this week.
Best buy matched it to 80 without needing a rebate.

Haven't tried it though.

Make a duplicate of the data on the drive before shipping it.
If it pukes on the way, make another duplicate and repeat.
Hand deliver after that after that fails.
Fire your courier who is delivering hard drives to your competitor after that fails.
