seening as how i'm profoundly hard of hearing, i watch TV with close captioning on. I've watched more than one "live" broadcast of news, where the captioning was AHEAD of the words being said. Kinda hurts your faith in the news team. =)
you NEED that kind of processing power, for the camera. I've got a DC260 at work, and you have to wait a couple seconds for it to process the picture, at the highest resolution. You're converting 1.5 million pixels, into a 400k jpg. that takes power =)
it's all about the quality. buy a good keyboard in the first place, you'll have good luck with it.
my Keytronics from 1992 is still in service, aside from a broken number pad enter key(keytop broke off when i stepped on it, button still works), it's still usable. I've had incredible luck with Keytronic keyboards. Bad luck with Mitsumi, and anything else that has a 1 digit price tag =) My old keytronics was the battle tank type, you could bash someone over the head, and still use the keyboard after. The Mitsumi's here at work, seem to die after a year or two, because of our environment. Keytronics last much longer.
The other thing you can look into, is when you buy a new keyboard, get one of those latex covers for it. It's weird to type on for the first couple weeks, but you'll get used to it. Haven't done it myself, but that's what my users tell me =)
i suspect that perhaps he's taking the cards in and out of the camera. the connectors are pretty tough, but if you do it wrong, i suppose you COULD break a pin in the camera... well, that'd break the camera, not the card, woudln't it?:) Btw, they're keyed, stop plugging it in backwards.
what i'd like to know is how you're breaking the flash card?:) they're rated for 2000 g's of force. that's something like a 10 foot fall onto concrete.. buy a bigass card, like 192 meg, and LEAVE IT IN THE CAMERA. anything that breaks the card, it broke YOU, and the camera LONG ago =)
Leech Zmodem comes to mind.. I think it just didn't send the CRC back for the last block, or something? can't remember.. great for avoiding ul/dl ratios =)
friend of mine bought a 10 device scsi cable, cost them around 350 bucks, for a LVD cable.. can't remember the length though, i think it was around 10 foot.
I even went looking on the Nigerian.gov webpage.. It's amazing how little internet connectivity even the gov't has. As of when i got the first one, i figured there was a remote chance it was a legit um.. well..scam of whoever they worked for. After they spammed me twice with it, i got pissed off enough to go think about reporting them. Gave up on it when i saw the second different one, with similar plot line =)
I've been getting spam from some place in Nigeria, two versions so far. One wants our company to deposit something like 25 million in an account, and they'll transfer 30 million into ours. Supposedly they're directors of a Petrochemical company there, and have an overflow in a payment to a foreign contractor, and want to steal it for themselves. The other one was similar, with different situation, and different people, but still in Nigeria. Either way, both said this was strictly confidential, and for the owner of the company only. So maybe they should have sent it to him, instead of me, the sysadmin.
My dad always bought the service manuals when he or my mom bought a new car. They're VERY handy 5-10 years down the line, when you're staring at a random piece of equipment that you just fixed, and now you can't remember where it went
Chrysler. Turn the key to run, then off.. Run, off. Run. Off.. I think it's three.. then the light will start flashing. i think 55 was end of code.. the rest are in the service manual;) I'm wishing there was a similar one for my firebird, had a few problems a couple months ago that knowing the code would have been nice. Nice, as in, can i keep driving this cause i'm too lazy to bring it back to the dealership =)
LVD has a fairly long cable length restriction, no? I know UltraScsi is somewhere around 5 feet or so, but I thought LVD was something like either 18 m or 18 feet.
ah, but his whole point is in the quarter mile distance he was talking about. My old little neon would haul its way up to just short of 120, with no problem. Just took a while.:P Now, the trans am i drive now, gets up to 160 no problem, and gets to the neon's 120 in just over a quarter mile =)

try searching for "i'm a porn star" or "you're a porn star" one of those.. parody of all-star. has the same annoying ad in all the copies i found.
Or spend a few more bucks, and actually put a decent amount of ram in the system. My guess is once you bring that machine up to 64 or so, it'll run a LOT nicer.
I guess the problem is, we're speaking generally. There's only one or two classifications that involve computers there, which doesn't really require a degree to be good in what you're doing. I'd hate to be where someone in some of the other categories didn't have their degree =)
What i find interesting, is the bias against non-degree holding people. What happens if someone didn't want to waste three to four years of their life, falling behind in their chosen field? Now the INS comes along and says you can't move to the US.
Agreed.. But I'm stuck with a non-technical, bad manager. I should have clarified that. Thought they were related, till i saw your post. =)
Speaking of trust, i treat the network now, as if we have an internal security breach. I try to send nothing over the wire that's not encrypted. Simply _cannot_ trust him. Can't give him any information, cause he'll come back and use it against you at a later date:(

set video to none, in your bios. most of the time, it'll run without a video card in it then.

should be running it under the old Hamm Debian distro then ;)
