If one is totally self centered and ease of life is all that is wanted then college is the only path. Then again, if being a blessing to society rather than a curse to all is your goal then college is still the only game in town. These days many college grads may well make less than a union plumber. But then again a union plumber has far more schooling than a college grad believe it or not. The trades have become highly protective and they make excessive demands in order to keep the gates closed to new people. In many cases a family or small group of families may well control a trade such as plumbing in a county or even across several counties. That means that no matter what you do or how well you do it you will fail in an effort to get a certificate. I have seen a situation in which Federal programs for apprentices were dummied in such a way that certain people could get certificates without attending the mandatory courses. Even the instructors were absent. It gave them a pay check and they might have spent an hour or two a week in classes designed to occupy every evening except Sunday and all day Saturdays as well.
For those wanting to make a ton of money then go to college and work your ass off and acquire recognized expertise beyond all requirements. If you can be a star you can succeed. As most people simply can not be a star then find a happy spot and weld yourself into that happy spot.
Sometimes those background checks are run without employees having a clue. I am of the belief that even for private sector jobs that our government is involved in those checks. And they are not always for positions that one might suspect that they would be run. I found out about this as a consequence of a burglary in which files were found by various employees.
And there is some good that can come from this. For example I know of a stock boy who was throwing thousands of dollars in parts into the dumpster buried in shipping trash. And for good measure a higher up employee who was given time to find another job who was causing the loss of tens of thousands of dollars worth of parts.
Perhaps it is not such a bad thing that these checks take place. If they do I can think of two people that I just mentioned that will be black listed forever.
In Florida, like most US states, we have a few votes from convicted felons and a few votes from graveyards. Apparently convicted felons are five times more likely to vote than the dead. It is a shock that nobody has complained about the strong odors the dead must cast off while in the voting booths.
China and Russia surely do strangle the flow of information and so does the U.S.. Any day now the specs on the vastly obsolete M1 rifle will perhaps no longer be secret. And Julian would not have to worry about trumped up rape charges or whatever they throw at him next. Matter of fact information seems to try to hide in deep dark pockets and it takes both effort and risk to liberate information.
The delivery dates on these types of products is about as endless as the possibilities. And for once it is just not the net that ballyhoos these new inventions. Popular Science has reported on endless breakthroughs through many decades as have other magazines. Yet the number of these ideas that actually make it into production in any reasonable amount of time is next to none at all. Printing batteries on flexible paper sounds great. But give us thirty years and batteries might be a thing of the past. If it isn't some fancy kind of capacitor it will be some other newly thought of technology that hits the streets.
I predicted the same thing with Linux. I'm a Linux fan and daily user. But I remarked on many occasions that the battle between Linux and Windows was irrelevant as somewhere a new OS would crop up that might sweep the field. It might be Chrome. It may be something yet to be discussed. But changes are occurring and not only are they occurring faster but the steps of increase are getting greater as well. Batteries have shown distinct limits as have Windows products. Expect sweeping changes.
We can fight on the political side to keep the net free and we can fight on the social side as well. But the chances are that we will need to make regulation either impossible or so expensive that downloading and communications simply can not be blocked. We need programs that can seek the materials that interest us and encrypt them and then send them through anonymous servers. If this is done right it should be next to impossible for a third party to determine what went over the net and who sent and received whatever the item was. If it is expensive enough and difficult enough to penetrate then information will flow freely.
In my town over 100 businesses have closed their doors and endless others have not even tried to start up due to competition from online sources. Just how much energy and pollution does that stop. Think of all that construction and all those employees and customers driving to those stores every day. And think of the sprawl issue and the road building that has to take place for brick and mortar stores.
In other words simple direct comparisons are faulty as hell. Yes, UPS does burn a bit of diesel delivering a product purchased online. But then again one or two suppliers might supply an entire nation or cluster of nations with a specific product eliminating the existence of tens of thousands of buildings.
It is astounding that these northern city types fear such trivial critters as possums. I'll bet you guys are a real hoot with a rattler or a boar or a little black bear. Southerners have been known to cook all three and possums as well for supper.
Our cops have trouble with the truth. It is not just Canadian cops. The next small town up the road from me just caught a cop who was raping women by stopping them with his squad car and telling them that if they did not submit he would arrest them on trumped up charges. We even had one cop who moved to another county, while still being a cop, and was tying young women to trees and axing them to pieces.
My point being that if we have cops that stoop to rape and ax murders you can bet that more than a few cops are frequently doing lesser crimes while on duty. It is all too easy to "find" drugs or weapons on unpopular people.
I can think of nothing more psychopathic than several former leaders of the USSR. And the bombs did not go flying!
I think that has to do with those rational enough to have a team to finance, build and deliver a nuclear device are sane enough to want to avoid the inevitable retaliation that would follow any kind of atomic or nuclear attack. For example several Arab nations have a serious hatred of Israel yet none of those nations want to be turned into a smoking pit which would be a rather easy thing to do. Even that little 9/11 stuff has turned into a real negative for the Arab region with an awful lot of suffering going on over there. Imagine if they had harmed our nation as a whole rather than as a somewhat confined attack.
Let's see. BSA sometimes means Birmingham Small Arms or refers to a motorcycle with unique electrical issues or means the Boy Scouts of America. So will they hold three fingers in the air and take an oath that that opinion is genuine?
And I have calculated that if he is incorrect and the value is one and not zero that I have a 50% chance of being correct.

Take a metal that has been widely used by the Navy for opening and closing valves and make it public property. Then have industry make wires for ladies bras and eye glass frames and bury the potential of the material under a dark rock in a dark stream somewhere. The idea that Nitinol could be used to make car doors and fenders that were self healing or a connecting rod that would turn a crank without a piston being needed and the truth just might become apparent. In essence Nitinol hides in plain sight. It is a world class substance delegated to unimportant roles by industries that avoid change like the plague.
That is the catch. A pigeon could carry a 64 gig memory stick as easily as a 200 megabyte stick. So unless the pigeon fails to arrive it will always win.
We can't stop heroin, coke, or pot nor millions of illegal immigrants from crossing the border. The chance of keeping violent games or sexually explicit material away from teens approaches zero. It might even make such materials even more interesting for teens. And you can bet that an illegal supply industry will instantly pop up to get those materials to the teens. There are a lot of hurting people right now and getting an adult with an ID to make purchases for a teen will require little effort at all.
Censorship is nothing but dangerous and whoever in Canada is behind censoring scientists needs a rope, a tree and some howling in the night. I hope the citizens of Canada will act up and get this nonsense stopped.
You need serious legal help. Every state is different in matters of employment law and some offer much better protection than others. If your lawyer has experience in the federal court system and there is a foothold that might be a better path. And it is not just your current employment that is at risk. Your future may suffer as well. Do not attempt to speak or find help until you see that lawyer. Anything you do can be seen as hurting your cause.
Also do not assume that this dismissal is not a pretense. Your company may be behind the entire affair. Dirty tricks take place and who is to say that they don't have a cheaper replacement waiting in the wings.
I grieve that I can not attend the Galileo Was Wrong event. I have committed that weekend to attending the Flat Earth Society conference. Following that inspirational event I will attend an equally stirring Tea Party Rally as well as a Concerned Republicans meeting. So many quality events and so little time -----
At least the Nazis were practical. Burning books was far cheaper than buying them. And we certainly would not want citizens reading "unapproved truths". This stuff is way too sick for me to consider without getting angry.
Apparently I must be dumb as a rock as it would seem to me that several jets flying information have the same problem as satellites traveling together. Speed, position and collision avoidance seem to be old issues to me. I wonder if the government actually farmed out money to grow a solution? Am I a dummy or what goes here?
It is basic to Christianity that there is one true faith and that Christians will work to eliminate any faith other than Christianity. This is nothing more than New Testament teachings. Although it is said in polite terms rather than confrontational terms the existence of so-called other faiths amounts to allowing Satanic doctrines to exist. As Islam leads people away from Christ it can only be seen as a deceit fostered by Satan. Every missionary and evangelist that has ever lived sought only to bring people out of these false faiths into the one true faith. All the minister in question is doing is having the courage to follow what his faith requires. It might be better if he chose to do it in a more gentle way but make no mistake, any minister that believes that it is ok to belong to a non Christian faith has betrayed the faith.
It is an outrage that Christians who do nothing but declare a doctrine that the church has embraced for 2000 years can be accused of hate speech.
As long as individuals have the same right to spy as companies I have no issue at all with data collection. It is only when government of groups with privilege have powers that the public does not that there is a problem.

And in the end days they will be confounded by their own complexity. The New Testament has interesting remarks.

To get a solution such as this someone is getting kissed or their wallets are getting full. Freedom lost another round.
I love the warriors against ignorance. People that push back the darkness deserve our deepest gratitude and respect.
