  1. Right Wing Heaven on Are Silicon Valley's Glory Days Over? · · Score: -1, Troll

Gee! Does this imply that continually electing right wing governors and the like has a little bitty teenie weenie something to do with economies falling into the toilet? Could it be?

  2. Help! on Texas Textbooks Battle Is Actually an American War · · Score: 1

There are numerous traditional Christian churches that do not swallow this crud being spewed by the plague of pseudo Christian new wave churches. It is time to self regulate the Christian community and shut up these low life pseudo churches that exist to feed some bums who claim to be ministers.
Any Christian worth his salt realises that God could use any tool He wished to create this world including evolution, that not every phrase in the Bible is meant to be taken in a primitive sense and that science and Christianity have no conflicts at all. As a matter of fact the doctrines embraced by these new age evangelistic groups were taught as being Satanic doctrines in seminaries for centuries. The tip off is that Christ promised His followers pain and suffering in this world for following Him. If you see a church promising a wonderful and wealthy life in this world run out the door as fast as you can.

I think such a law is absurd. Obviously most political candidates want to change the current way that government works. This new law tries to address violent over throw of government. But revolutionaries will never register. This law is a waste of the paper it is printed on and a waste of tax payer monies as well.

There goes another huge waste of our tax dollars. Now that we have had an expensive witch hunt we get the thrill of paying huge money to lock these guys up for no reason at all.
And just why should the most conservative county get to hold power over all of us. How about letting the most l;iberal county declare when something is pornographic in nature?
And I live near the center of Florida and nothing at all is offensive to me porn wise. So these judges are not representing the people at all. They are catering to the lowest element of dried up dullards. Sometimes I understand the loonies who go off and gun down people at random. It's because of nonsense like this courts rulings.

  9. The Wrong Age on Silicon Valley VCs and the Gender Gap · · Score: 0, Troll

Women control the majority of money in the US. It seems that that is true simply because they survive longer due to their husbands working their fannies into an early grave. But having money and power in the declining years does not bless them with nimble minds at that age. So if we get a bunch of bright young women willing to dedicate themselves totally to tech in the fanatical way that young males often do we may see women getting more funding. I guess they will have to give up on the baby making, long nails, and endless shopping.

  10. Let's Burn More Money! on FBI Pushing For 2-Year Retention of Web Traffic Logs · · Score: 1

Convictions cost big bucks and we already have way to many convicts. I'm not so certain that we need to enable the FBI in tracking down sweaty little perverts or loonies trying to stuff bombs in their boxer shorts or sneakers. It seems to me that almost all of the time society loses a lot of money when we sweep up this trash. It might be better to let them run about or perhaps build some treatment facilities where people with short circuited brains could get some real help.

  11. Convoluted Crud on Once Again, US DoJ Opposes Google Book Search · · Score: 1

Blow the copyright laws into the ditch. It is a flawed and screwy concept. That which is distributed loses any facility to be private in any way. If people really want "rights" over such property they should keep their literary and musical creations to themselves. Art is not supposed to be about money at all. They are turning artistic products into commercial products.

  12. U Are What U Are on Routine DNA Tests For Newborns Mean Looming Privacy Problems · · Score: 1

Openness is the only way to go. Instead of deception and hiding our DNA why not go out into the world with the truth displayed for all to see? Some folks will be inferior in their composition but if that is the way that God made them why should they feel shame? It is time for people to forget these primitive notions about privacy.

  13. Well Yeh on Murdoch Says E-Book Prices Will Kill Paper Books · · Score: 3, Insightful

Sure ebooks hurt the retail merchants but so what? Industries are not protected nor should they be. Buggy builders were slaughtered by the automobile. The telegraph industry was murdered by the telephone and computer industry. Telephone operators were blown out of work by electronic switchboards. Lawn workers were smacked down by gasoline mowers. The list is endless. So just why are we to be concerned about the loss of retail book sellers? Take a peek at movie theaters. In 1930 theaters were absolutely enormous. Today there is no such thing as a theater that seats 20,000. Soon even the small theaters that still exist will probably vanish as the television industry has better and better technology.

  16. Continual Fun on Solutions For More Community At Work? · · Score: 1

If you can get people involved in picnics, contests, sports teams, perhaps a company band, you will have a close community with little turnover. It is important that much of these activities take place after work or on weekends so that social life and work become more welded together. For example with 100 employees you will be having birthdays every week. Make that cake ritual part of the Saturday ball game and announce the birthday will be held at the ballgame on the actual birthday. That way you save distraction at work and still honour the employee and also steer him to attend the company ball game. Also be sure not to discourage employee dating as that also can bind people to a company.

  18. Phone Sales Replay on Interview With a Convicted 419 Scammer · · Score: 1

In 1990 there were people who would call back to a pigeon who had lost money on phone scams. Many of these people were chronic losers who purchased phoney deal after phoney deal. Then they would ultimately get a call from a fellow who would claim to be a former FBI agent who was investigating and would recoup their losses. He would ask a $500. up front fee and claim that he needed an additional 15% of all that he recovered. Of course the $500 was a dead loss as he never intended to find money for anyone.
Anyone out there who thinks they can not be taken by such scams had best rethink their beliefs as these scams can be very artfully done. The worst victims will be those who actually get something good at some point. For example a crooked salesman can scam you for $500 with a phoney advertising supply offer. You will get ripped off. Two months later the crook calls back with all kinds of apologies claiming that he quit his former employer when he found out they stopped delivering product. Then he will claim that his reputation is far more important than $500 and send you that $500 plus something really nice on top of it. It may be another $500 as part of the apology. Then another call comes and your new found "friend tells you of this fabulous deal he can give you if you can afford it. Then he will need a much larger sum up front and you will be had big time.

  19. Re:Why bittorrent? on FCC's Net Neutrality Plan Blocks BitTorrent · · Score: 1

The chowder headed judges decided that convenience is somehow related to wrong doing. Electronics supposedly makes things too convenient and therefore they think special laws should apply. The tortured line of reasoning included public records searches in court houses. Their majesties decided that it was fine to go to a court house and pull files and read them as the inconvenience shielded people from "too much" scrutiny whereas computerised searches made it too easy to check people out.

  20. I'm Not A Lawyer on FCC's Net Neutrality Plan Blocks BitTorrent · · Score: 1

As I recall one successful defence if accused of aiding copyright violations was the fact that the ISP never, ever, did any type of censorship or even observation of the content flowing through their servers. It seems to me that if Comcast blocks Bit Torrent then they become liable for violations that they fail to allow to continue. This may be a serious case of a very large company shooting themselves in the foot.

Perhaps that is why the classic debate between mankind having no free will among its members verses those that believe it is all about free will leaves both sides wanting. Individuals with limited free will may match the actions of other things in this universe.

Air surveillance of criminals by fixed wing aircraft, as well as high altitude balloons and satellites has been the norm over some American cities for at least two decades. We even have robotic, miniature submarines that hunt vessels used by drug runners. What most bad guys don't know is how distant a fixed wing aircraft can be and still track a vehicle. In essence if anyone ever wanted to be a criminal the era has come and gone for them. These days they will be caught even though cops may wait years to actually make the arrests which enables them to establish career criminal status and lock these fools up for life without parole.

  25. The Stupid Rule on Getting Company Owners To Follow Their Own Rules? · · Score: 1

Frankly if you force them to become reality oriented you will be fired. Bosses hate that sort of thing. If you think about it deeply you will soon come to the reality that almost all business failures are due to the stupidity of top management. They get old, and lazy and they get promoted. Then their lack of sharpness causes companies to die. Some of them were probably fantastic starting out but that wears off and the better the original effort they made the faster they decline. I worked in one known company in which the president had gone senile and we had a girl assigned to call back everyone who called in to speak with him and let them know that he did not speak for the firm. Yet his power was such that he could not be confronted and removed.
