Isn't this just implied by being a the top of the 'pyramid'? So how many 'trees' does the average wolf consume in a year? Maybe it will help if we stop the wolves from eating meat?
Are these really *games*? Chess is a game, it is infrequently re-invented but continues to have a rather significant fan base. All of these online games and video games are more like a movie, need a new director every few years.
The MMPORGIES(sp?:-) need to be more like sitcoms or no actually more like interactive soap operas. No one cares how many kill points, they care how you use them on a buddy that they want to play a practical joke.
Go find LambdaMoo, get a character, there are a couple thousand folks that have been mooing for over a decade. It's more than a chat room, more than a game, less than real life. (no reverse that;-)

Get used to it. You may keep selected keystrokes perfectly secret if you are willing to do all the work and keep your passphrase secret to the death (assuming no truth serum gets to you first) but everyone already knows what you did on TV and they all really care less and less. Set up a webcam in your bathroom, the hit will approach zero over time.
"For months, in secret, the Free Software Foundation, a Boston-based group that controls the licensing process for Linux and other "free" programs, has been making threats to Cisco Systems..."
Clearly we are a subversive crowd, WOO!
The business community does not get it. And they will PAY!
There are so many misunderstandings in the first paragraph, really someone should get a paper letter to the editor, I'm sure they discount anything from email.
Last time I heard him talk Jini would be in every toaster in every house by 2001. A think tank in Aspen sounded pretty cushy but none of it changed my life. Maybe a think tank in Nebraska or South Dakota would inspire the thinkers to think hard enough to build something cool. Er, no.
At an early high-tech company someone found a personal workstation unlocked and sent the email to a departmental list saying "I'm wearing a really pretty new dress today, come by and give me a compliment." Happenend several times. Never found out who. very very funny. very infamous.
Extended performances are not infrequent in the world of opera, Gotterdammerung the Wagener Ring Cycle runs about 18 hours total, this is usually over four days, but one of the operas runs six hours. There is a Phillip Glass opera (Einstein?) that usually ran over 3-4 days that had a marathon full day run. Some of the naysayers should consider LoTR as a slightly different kind of art form.
I there pressure from any source (industry, executive or legislative) to look for and execute prosecutions on 'high profile' situations that will bring in headlines or dramatic convictions?
Thanks and I hope you keep up 'the good fight' that is truly the good fight.
Well for small companys that provide quality, truely inovative products that solve REAL problems. The CA's and Peoplesofts that ship a product that require 2-3 years of independant consultants to get 'right' will be ancient history.
This may be the REAL space race (just one landing on the moon, woo!), but it will not be won by anyone until the spaceworkers complain about too may Starbucks opening on each station.
When you googled for something *java* it was anoying enough to deal with stupid $tarbuck$ links, with 'Jackpot' an unlucky click and it might take 20 min to undo the popdowns, offers for the *best internet casino*... and oh my gawd, add to the wrong mail list!
(I was going to add an example link but I wouldn't do that to my worst enemy)

Pages, a big fat list of links, which I assuredly did not pay for but was funny on the shelf. Reading old blogs on paper is just an ironic anachronism. Although if the guy makes money, good for him. Is this a troll? I'm not a troller in general but I'm not sure this time...;-}
Look for ways where all the life experience you have can be use to advantage. There is more to many software jobs than pure code. Solve problems. Pure code can be jobbed out to India;-)
Or rather, neither statistic (per mile, per trip) are sufficient to make a valid comparison between 'modes' of transportation. Car accidents are much more likely within 5 miles of home (something like that, I'm not chasing references). And should it be vehicle miles, person miles, per overhaul? Perhaps a group of stats would give some insight into the comparison.
I often say that one is safer on any plane than walking in a major city. But is that accurate? Not sure how to make a rigorous case.
Auto and plane stats are given as deaths per N miles. Now that would be an interesting and possibly more valid statistic. Shuttle deaths or even Space program deaths *per mile*!

Yes this is a troll.
But a troll against fuzzy statistics.

One day, but each has to transport five pre-teens to school, soccer (futbol) practice, and get in and out of a parking lot at Starbucks quickest.

Don't agree with the silly patent but it couldn't happen to a nicer company!

Just not gunna happen.
My wife just got back from Chile with a beautiful crown. Funny, I think the post was made in the US, just didn't have the 5000% BlueCross surcharge.

My number is one digit off from a local radio stations contest line, does that count as spam?
I badly want to answer "You WIN, come down to the station in the next hour", then turn the phone off.
