For the 99% who are atheists, I recommend music. If you played a musical instrument in middle/high school, go to a local community college and enroll in a performing class. If you're actually (still) proficient, you can join some kind of a community orchestra.
I second this; having been a member of several small, local theater groups in my youth, I can say with assurance that participating in the performing arts is a great way to get some tail.
Job focus, education, political leanings - while they may help form who you are, they are not criterion upon which lasting relationships are founded.
IMO, It boils down to A) the personalities involved, and B) how well one person deals with the other person's annoying little quirks.
As for B, well... patience goes a long way. Doesn't hurt if you really love the other person, too - makes those little annoyances far easier to deal with.
Or better yet, teach yourself. Science classes are for memorizing facts, which is not exactly science. I'm skeptical that one can really teach a roomful of people how to think scientifically in 3 hours a week for a semester.
Actual knowledge is not the reason to go to school - that piece of paper you get at the end, which confirms you possess said knowledge (or rather, confirms you paid for said piece of paper), which is essential to getting a job in about 90% of the market, is.
There are a lot of we 'self-taught' scientists, engineers, etc, who get stuck with entry-level wages because we lack the aforementioned written credentials, actual skills and know-how notwithstanding.
BS. I own an N900 and a N9. Both quite capable of running open systems, including Android. Yet they're collecting dust because nobody I knows wants them, not even for free.
Ah, man, I'd happily take that N900 off your hands, I've been wanting to build a Pwnphone for a while, but can't seem to find the hardware for a reasonable price.
Try AOKP - I just switched my Droid X from CM7 to the latest AOKP ICS build a few months ago, and my random-freeze-and-crash issues have, thus far, completely disappeared.
I think the sorriest traits I see in my fellow humans are:
1) their obsession with what other people do with the money they earn;
2) their lack of appreciation for tools which save time, which is often more valuable to the owner of the tool than any extra cost incurred in purchasing the tool itself;
But you know, that's just me.
I would add
3) Their apparent inability to observe another person catching a break for once without getting all petty and jealous and demanding they be given the same deal even if they don't have need for it.
The longer I live, the more disappointed I become in my species...
[2]: If you set a password (not a PIN) and use all numbers, when the iPhone asks for the code, it will pull up a numeric keypad, not the complete keyboard. Yes, it might lower security as an attacker knows the PIN is only numbers, but it is a lot easier to enter in the code that way.
If that concerns you, you can use Apple's free iPhone
Configuration Utility to create and add a profile that requires a longer passcode. You keep the numeric keypad, but your code can be an arbitrary length. You also get an "OK" button to press to enter the code so the potential attacker won't even know how long your passcode really is without other clues.
Can I set it to one digit? That should frustrate the holy living hell out of any wanna-be phone thieves...
Really?
Maybe they should call ahead and give him a couple weeks to wipe his hard drive?
Say, Barret, we were going to be in the neighborhood next week, how bout we drop by and pick up your computers, Ok? We got a warrant and everything. 10:am sound fine? Good , see you then old boy. On, and you won't erase anything between now and then will you? Goodl. Thought not. Shall we bring you a Latte when we come? Ok, then. See you next week.
You know, I bet that approach would work with drug dealers, bank robbers, and murderers too.
Have you thought about running for Sheriff or something? You'd be bound to get elected.
What you've just said... is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone... is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Missouri too, provided they do not identify themselves as LEO's prior to kicking in the door.
Even then... anybody can buy blue shirts and badges from a variety of online retailers, and there have, locally, been several incidents in recent years of people impersonating cops so they can rob/rape/whatever.
If it were a no-knock raid perhaps, but if they announce that they are police, then such action would be inexcusable murder.
I agree.
I'm all for justice and for protecting our rights, but police who have legitimate warrants to arrest people shouldn't have to worry that they'll get shot when they announce they're coming in.
Totally.
Of course, if they have a legitimate warrant, there is zero excuse for executing a "no-knock" search unless the individual being served is a known violent/flight risk. Being an attention-hungry diva doesn't quite qualify, IMO.
No, people died because of religious fanaticism coupled with decades of American Imperialism.
FTFY; let's call a duck a duck, shall we?
Since we're quaking about the middle east, let's not leave the British & French out. Their decisions about how to divide the Ottoman empire has not helped. Nor the decision to create Israel.
Fair enough - as an American citizen, I only feel right bitching about the bullshit my gov't pulls, but that by no means implies that citizens of other imperialistic nations can't or shouldn't bitch about their own.
Don't waste your brainpower trying to extrapolate Google's rationale for pulling the video in Egypt/Libya: Google is a for profit company. If delisting a certain piece of content in certain regions is better for business than not delisting said content, they're going to delist it. Period.
Someone put some super bright IR LEDs in a baseball cap. That way normal people wont see it but if hes in front of a camera the light will drown out the image around his face.
Hmm, like the idea, but I don't always wear a hat...
How bright do you think the LEDs would have to be to obscure my face, if I embedded them in my lapels?
gov should protect us and our rights from the ignorant masses...not pander to them.
Sorry, pal. That's called "democracy" and it cuts both ways - the majority gets what it wants; sometimes that's you, sometimes it's not. There's a reason that they say democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the other ones.
Yup. Recently spent nearly $50k for a new machine (512GB ram, 64 CPU, etc.).
...
Can I be your friend?

Slashdot, seriously, make a time-limited edit button, will you?
+1 Hell Yea
I want some of those drives. On second though I probably don't (if it sounds too good).
Oh, yea, the storage space is dirt cheap, but the data usage costs to access it are astronomical!

If only it did't hitch up and crash so much.

It has a USB A hole
:D
Late Friday afternoons, my maturity level drops significantly...
You can in Indiana! Really.

These particular people dying have nothing to do with American imperialism.
Malarkey - they wouldn't have been in a position to die, if not.
^
Too stupid to be trolling.
... and I ain't bitin'

Brings about a whole new meaning to keeping your data "in the cloud," doesn't it?
OK, so that didn't sound as funny as I thought it would...there's a joke in there somewhere, dammit.
Forgot to add, being an 'exclusive licensee' doesn't mean you're the only licensee. See 'WiAV Solutions v. Motorola.'.
...
Thanks for the info, but at this point I've gotta say 'fuck it, not worth the brainpower...'
"Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner."
You forgot the rest:
"Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote."

This is why I'm glad I live in a republic.
Oh, wait....
Fuck.
