    because you obviously got a serious ego problem. iMac is more than just the case, it's the same as other Macintosh computers, ease of use. as I always say, smart people use linux as server, suckers use linux as desktop (and still they they are really smart).

    no one uses ?? no "REAL" Apps runs on ?? isn't it dead already ?? As I always said BeOS's only way to survive is to compete with WINCE. But no !!! all those BeOS trolls said that BeOS is so freaking good that it's better than Mac OSX, and OS X will die. Let's see how long do we have to wait for the announcement of the end os BeOS :) Or maybe Opensource of BeOS (somewhat like Mozilla) ?

    because linux community is the ultimate copying machine, do you see ANY innovation by linux community?? no. Why?? because those people only know how to copy how to emulate what other ppl do. If apple start to sue people for copying what they've designed, they feel insecure, because nearly everything that they've done in the past will fall apart. (except maybe the linux kernel) I think apple is already kind enough to let windowmaker go, because they are not using that interface anymore, but that's just a total rip off of NEXT's R&D. I used to support linux whole heartedly, but if what I see in slashdot is what represents linux, then I think it's really F**KED up big time.

    I am not sure if I am speaking BS, the fact is i tried BeOS, and I find it really fun to use. but the fact is how many nerds are there on earth!? I guess not many nerds here got the time to be using both linux and BeOS at the same time. Give reason for a nerd to use BeOS, is it Opensource (no!?) sorry.
    just face it a superior (not equal) to success, no matter how hard you try to persuade your friends to change from NT to Be, they only will find it fun, instead of useful. "yeah BeOS is so cool, does BeOS got XXXX application??" (no!?) sorry.

    You may say only nerds use BeOS, how many people here really use BeOS DAILY !? if I am nvidia, Ati, HP, whatever hardware company out there, will I support an OS that people use for less than 24 hours a year??

    There were some japanese company that tried to ship BeOS with computers (forgot which one, anyway that's mainstream acceptance/support right?), what happened was all of those product lines just kinda fade out, anybody wonder why ??

    I wonder what windowmaker GNUStep and Afterstep are doing in the linux world. They are trying to revive their beloved Nextstep on linux Boxes.

    And guess what, before you know it, BeOS is already dead. Unless there is some kind of miracle happens (e.g. suddenly all MS emplyees died). Otherwise I really dont see BeOS will have any real acceptance in the future. In 1999-2000 some japanese computer manufactures tried to preload BeOS on their computer, but that just doesnt sell (Be got like NO market share).
    Just face it Superior product (doesnt equal) to success.

    lol so any BeOS lovers who tried to put down NeXTStep or MacOS please think carefully, BeOS has nothing to do with PPC anymore, you should start to jerk about window 2000 and ME (or CE also coz maybe finally BeOS will be competing with CE only)

    1: Who said that apple is suing FishPC !? . it's just those so caled internet journalist think so. 2: Apple also got apple monitor that look very similiar to that one shown, they no necesary sue because of all in one design. 3: Apple is a hardware company 4: Macintosh is MacOS + apple hardware.

    I've taken Software Engineering .. But I don't Understand .. Probably need to re-take ... ~_~

    I am not sure if the Symbolic link thing is really that useful, as Hard drives nowadys are so _BIG_ I don't really care about space anymore, maybe it'll help administration of server, but I don't see how. Anyways it is certainly different to the traditional type.

    Smart TroubleShooter - Well . How smart could it be?? As far as I see After 5 years struggle of implementing "plug and play" in Windows I still can always see "plug and plug and plug and continue to plug". I really don't see any smart things coming out of Microsoft any time sooner than NEVER. I am not saying UNIX is very smart, UNIX is Dumb, very Dumb, but I think it's the system Admin's Job to be "Smart".

    BTW: Microsoft did not invent Office

    He still don't know what is driving Linux!? It's not a company that built Linux, it's people all over the world that built it. Transmeta used lot's of money on R&D, and you tell them to Open source their design ?? ...

    Red Hat, Debian, Corel .. and many other linux distribution don't need to do much R&D on the linux kernel in order to make it work, there are people all round the world to do the R&D, that is why they can make the whole OS with low cost, and distribute it open source.

    According to his theory, we should start designing a new open chip, then tell some people/company to goto the beach and find silicon to implement the design !? ...

    .......... how about that tell transmeta to open their design, and you guys go to the beach and find some silicon and make your own chip ... then there'll be some Debian chip, redhat chip .. !?

    1) So does that mean that BeOS is a competiton of MacOS ??
    2) By what I see so far, I don't see BeOS is in anyway superior to Mac OS X. especially it's GUI which was 70% copied from windows. (and windows copied from Nextstep) So ... actually who is superior ?? ..
    3) if their software is really so GREAT, why don't they continue with their Be Box ?? ... maybe Apple already Drop dead by now if they make their own hardware.
    5) if their OS is really so GREAT .. why they still can't "even" fight off windows 95/98 in the x86 world now ??
