    Actually I have no problem with the SQL language. I work in a heavy NoSql environment. We do not hate sql engines it is just that none of them are fast enough to deal with the transaction rates we require.

    If I am running a NoSql solution it is because I need every bit of speed I can muster. Putting a additional layer on top of that does nothing to reach that goal.

    The iPhone developer licence forbids scripting engines or Just-In-Time (JIT) compilers, which .NET needs to run code.

    Someone had better let all of the Unity IPhone developers know that they cannot use Mono C# on the iphone as it is forbidden. Really guys all of those apps you have been selling for the last two years for the IPhone is just not possible.

    The desktop is a device mainly used by the general public to run a web browser and the Windows cannot even do that well. Once that user fires up a browser his world is dominated by linux and he does not even know it.

    The desktop does not matter it is only a device on which to run a web browser. The average user spends most of his online time running pages served from linux. Then he goes and sits in front of his tv powered by linux, plays with his phone powered by linux, scrolling through his dvr running linux.

    I don't think I have physically touched a server in nearly two years. Hint: most server class hardware today have remote consoles and those connections do not go way on a reboot.

    The absolute best money the govt could put forward towards green initiatives is a heavy tax break based on number of telecommuters employed by a company.

    It is absolutely absurd the amount of fuel I waste every year to unplug from my network at home just to drive to work to plug back in and perform the same job. In fact there are very few people in my office that really could not perform their job full time from home.

    The amount of fuel used just for everyone to drive to a office every day is absolutely insane. In fact the only time I cannot actually perform work is during my commute each way.

    There is a very simple reason... "native code exection" . The java fanbois can claim what they want when it comes to app performance iPhone smokes any android device. This has little to do with the hardware as the iPhone is usually at a disadvantage but native code execution means the hardware can be pushed to it's limits without burning cycles on a jvm.

    Some idiot will undoubtedly bring up the NDK and yes it exists but it is a nasty hack at best. If Android was such a hot development platform their would be a sea of quality games for it but that is not the case now is it?

    As for the browser being slower I could care less, just means I sell more apps in itunes. I might use the browser on my phone at the most once a month, apps on the other hand all day long.

    I have never asked a math question while interviewing a programmer. The average corporate programming job requires basic math and at the very most simple well known formulas. I would say heavy math skills are only helpful in some very specific programming specialties. The last thing I want my programmers doing is writing their own bubble sort routines.

    By all means code away for WP7, no market but hey to each their own. As for android development I cannot argue with you there, java sucks and the ndk is nothing more than a nasty hack.
