    Interviewed with a gamer shop recently and they where telling me how unstable their platform was. They where hoping I could help them out, then proceeded to tell me they where using scala for production work. My response was this, hmm no thanks I cannot help you.

    The sooner you start thinking like a capitalist the quicker you may become rich also. Here is the cool part, why do you think Bain employees are donating to the Obama campaign? Hint it is not because they like him it is because they are hedging a bet that he gets elected in fact hoping very much that he does. Bain is betting that if Obamacare stands the overhead and regulation makes outsourcing a fantastic business decision.

    I happen to agree with Bain and Romney even in a loss situation stands to make millions more. See that is how to think like a capitalist, you turn a loss into a sure win.

    To be fair though I am not sure that my bunny fur bomber hat would fit inside of that helmet. I have however been snowmobiling at some amazingly cold temperatures -30+ F. As long as the skin is not directly exposed at those temps life is good. A small leak however or a few seconds of exposed skin and frostbite is immediate.

    When it is that cold though my first thought is to grab a ice auger, beer and go fishing.

    I know it was only a couple of years ago but do you remember why the republicans now have the majority? Hint it was not because everyone thought that the Democrats had a great agenda. In fact the voting majority was pissed that Obamacare was rammed through, thus the landslide win. Sorry to break this to you but we are damn glad they are there to do exactly what we hired them to do, block stupid shit.

    When I want to donate money I will just walk up and hand whomever I wish to donate cash bills. I know exactly where my cash gets donated and to whom. No paying middlemen, no administration costs just a flat out you need this, take it.

    I am from the thought that it is purely genetic. Sure you cant teach someone the concepts applying those is where genetics come to play. It takes someone with abstract visualization, tinkering and creativity skills . Throw in some unsatisfiable desire to beat a machine into submission and you have a great programmer.

    Interestingly enough over the years I have run into a unusually high percentage of great unix programmers that where previously auto mechanics.

    I don't mess around with shops that like to waste my time with crazy interview processes. At the end of the day most shops are near close to equal when it comes to environment, job and pay. By the time someone asks me for a second interview it is too late, I am hired.

    I specifically know two families both very good friends of mine. These two families both live well below the poverty line. However that will never change as they really have zero ambition to change that fact. As odd as it sounds they are perfectly happy making next to nothing.     Nearly every major application that people depend on when they start their machine and open that browser are powered by linux. For the majority of the world windows is nothing more than a host for a browser, just as it should be.

    I have spent a ton of time writing PowerShell scripts, it is a complete piece of trash. It has nothing at all over the power of the unix tool set.

    If you are doing it right it does not matter what you pick, at the end of the day these are nothing more than environments in which to run virtualized instances. If you have a good deployment model then the environment in which it runs means little.

    I know at least in my shop we could potentially switch from one to the other nearly overnight.

    I know what he is getting at, I could tell him in far more detail than this how the boot sequence works. Primarily this is because I have written a boot loader from scratch in assembler just because I wanted to know how it was done.

    It is also a dangerous tactic as my resume and work history clearly explains I know my shit. I generally view these sorts of interrogation questions in a negative way.

    Yes windows administration is hard, very hard mainly due to the fact that you cannot automate shit with it.

    Honestly though you need to know both the system and I don't mean using a Desktop no enterprise environment loads one. In addition you had better be able to program, you can be a admin without being a programmer but you cannot be a great one. Linux / Unix greatest strength is in the ability to automate the hell out of everything. If you cannot program you cannot maximize the use of the platform.

    I just had some dental work done a few days ago, I had no dental insurance. I was able to negotiate a killer price for a cash deal. The office was extremely happy to provide me with deep discounts they said billing is generally a majority of the overhead. My actual cost was probably barely more than any deductable I would have paid.
