Now the fist time I got one of these I wondered why bother even putting free dos on it? Well it did not take me long to figure it out. Their MS contract probably does not allow them to sell a box without a os on it. The quick way to get around that deal and not have to actually provide support is to load freedos and ship it out the door.

We keep adding processing to these couple of linux boxes until they absolutely beg for mercy. 11. Slashdot Anti-Hunters on Internet Hunting · · Score: 1

Wow I see a ton of anti-hunting sentiment on here but just have to sit back and laugh at all the posts by the severly misguided. I grew up on a farm in wisconsin and still actively hunt, as a matter of fact deer hunting season is in a few days.

First of all this guy is located on one of those farms that raise animals especially to be hunted. While I don't specifically see much point in this type of hunting it differs very little to all of
the beef cattle in pens I pass on my way to work every morning.

This morning on the way to work I saw two deer splattered all over the highway hit by either trucks or some mom in a SUV not keeping alert.

Many say that I am not wanting for food because
I can go to the grocery store and get my meat. Well yes this is true, but when I was just out
of high school I actually worked at a meat packing plant. Not only did I work at the plant I had the job of killing those animals for you. Tell me what
the difference is between me pulling the trigger there than doing it in the woods? I have done both
the only difference I can tell is the range at which I done it.

If you are a vegitarian well then good for you but
I prefer meat and I am not changing because you want me to.

I see alot of posts about the challenge of hunting. Deer are a ton smarter than most of you realize, for every deer I shoot a whole bunch get
away by outsmarting us. Now that being said I did not find a whole lot of sport in pressing a pneumatic bolt firning weapon against a cow and shooting it dead so you can go have your steak or hamburger tonight.

Everyone have a great day and when you are sitting at the local steak house think about the fact that somebody pulled the trigger so you can eat.

The biggest threat are all of these wannna be linux admins that are deploying linux like you would in a windows environment. Linux is not windows and should not be deployed as such. The windows deployment model is to load the os on every machine to maximize sales profits.

Linux on the other hand thrives in the thin client environment. When you deploy thin client all of these arguments about patch management, usability, control, software installation all melt away. I run 200 desktops from a single server and spend about 5 minutes a week maximum doing any sort of admin work for these guys.

New rollouts I can use a modified copy of a slackware cd that boots straight to a thin client
environment meaning I can deploy most medium sized companies in a single day including the time to load the server. Not only that but the risk is non existant since I don't touch the original drives.

Ok there is synaptic but it is one of the most confusingly laid out applications I have ever run across. Fix this with something like click and run and mepis would really raise the bar.

Get rid of the mozilla default as soon as firefox hits a 1.0 release and stabalizes, the world has
