Sure they always try to throw those arguments, but let me be the first to tell you that joes manufacturing company only cares about the cost not what operating system they are running.
Samba makes it very easy to get a linux box on a customers network. It also allows me to undercut the hell out of competitive bids in our area. All we are competing against it a bunch of vendors in the area and all they know how to do is windows and MS products. This allows us to completely smear any and all bids we run against them. We are doing it as much as we can right now because as linux spreads it is going to get a whole lot harder to do this and still make the profits we are making.
Yea that is why I am installing linux in a school district next week. They have a outdated version of novell and I am going to install K12 LTSP for these folks. It is a damn shame everyone is so blind.
M$ could do this because their product sucks so bad and has so many profitable bugs. A linux box that runs year after year without being touched does not provide much opportunity to make money.
Damn if you are going to write a worm make it do some damage. You back hats are really starting to bore the shit out of me.
For instance take this worm and add the ability for it to seek the network for every single excel spread sheet it can find and randomly mix up a couple of cell values. Then have it set the access time back to the original.
Hell just write a few bytes to a random location in any file you can access.
If you run a SCO system or a SCO Linux system you are guilty by association. Providing them with money for support is like paying them to sue responsible members of the community. I for one will make a exception in any source that I distribute forbidding execution on a SCO system.
Damn, imagine what I could do with a quarter of a million lines of python code. Seriously C is a great language for systems work, but writing accounting packages in C is just not the way to go.
Not very usefull today in business??? What in sam hell are you referring to? Tell that to the 70% of the web that is running on apache linux. Tell that to most of the wall street trading firms.... What a damn troll
I think it is time that I sue SCO as well. I sell linux and systems support for a living and SCO is damaging my business. I have to get my 5 bill's out of them before redhat, suse and ibm get it all.
We have been running postgresql for about 3 years in a production environment. The problem with postgresql is that number one it does not scale worth a shit. Number two it cannot be kept online 24/7 that in itself is some major faults. I run a system with databases consisting of simple data only about 15 million records or so. If we load on more than about 20 simultaneous users is slows to a grinding halt. I used to think that postgresql was the best database out there, if it is mission critical use a real database.
This is really a bad idea, as it stands right now the Hooters girl does not know the level of my glass and has to personally check. This technology reduces my exposure to the only reason to go to Hooters.
Well did you ever consider that some of us run over 150 desktop clients off of one server using nothing but X to get the job done. X might not be the fastest rendering display in the world but it is the most powerful.
Yea, the judge is going to buy that argument. I don't like MEGA CORP'S either but reguardless music sharing on the internet is ILLEGAL period. The same goes for people that pirate Windows and other software. I will not hesitate to turn in a pirate, busting pirates quickly turns them into OSS users.
If you go 47 people interested then it should be no problem getting a self funded wireless project going. Sounds like you are only a few miles outside of town. If you need help doing it drop me a mail message , email on my home page.
If Doyle (Wisconsin's current Gov and Former Attorney General (MS SELL OUT)) would get his head out of M$'s behind we might not have a state budget deficit.
I donate my time to set up a terminal server environment and other linux goodies for school. Next week I am going to work on converting a under funded christian school and the week after content filtering solution for a public school. Linux is making alot of headway in these projects and I really enjoy showing them what can be done with a simple download.
Instead of farting around starting yet another server system go contribute to the OSAF and their new PIM system. It is using a great architecture and will be the OSS groupware system of the future.
I have a xp machine beside me right now that crashes just sitting there. Don't even give me any crap about incompatible software or drivers it is bone stock and just crashes once a week.
Now let me really hit you with a clue stick, when was the last time you read a MS EULA. Microsoft is not responsible for anything that happens with your system and or software, READ IT!
SCO what who is SCO?

nmap youriprange -p 4444 | grep open this will find infected machines..
No most of the people here could give a damn less if all of the windows systems get smoked..

Come on black hats, quit boring me!
Ok what about the other half that they are responsible. Never mind the fact that a application should not crash the OS.

I see code for download on my site where is yours?

Who on earth would spend that type of effort just to recover a drive with XP on it...

Load redhat 9.0 then it has a volume manager designed for exactly that purpose...

Man I have been loading linux boxes right and left. The longer the economy is in the dumps the easier it is to sell linux solutions.
