I haven't seen any flying pigs, but a guy with red skin, horns and one hoof came to our door the other day, asking if we could lend him some blankets, his home just started to get chilly.
I did only read the summary of the patent because I go into a brain-dead-mode if I have to read such English....but did they just patent drawing onto a framebuffer using floats instead of ints?
Will someone please tell me that using Linux doesn't necessarily mean you have to act like an asshole? Or maybe there something about gnome or kde that requires it or something?
Using Linux doesn't necessarily mean you have to act like an asshole. And Gnome or KDE does not require it.
Though, it gives you that warm feeling in the stomach and that asshole-like grin if you listen to the problems from Windows-Users.
I really don't want people to learn that you really shouldn't ask Linux users for any computer advice because it's more likely you're going to hear about their ideological stance than anything actually useful.
So, what did you expect if you ask people on the internet about something? Assuming that everyone on the internet is just there to help you and is not an asshole/troll is a very bold assumption.
VirtuaWin works very well...what I really miss is the possibilities of devilspie or any other window manager which really allows to manage windows: Remove decoration, force position/size, always-on-top or below everything.
... and need to install the next version of the OS from scratch and then reinstall all of your stuff (much like going from XP to Win7) or...
No repro here. I've reinstalled my Desktop system (Ubuntu) multiple times from scratch, all I needed to do afterwards was to reinstall the software (that's point and click in synaptic).
Also, if you have a server (which is connected to the internet) which falls 24+ months behind in updates, you have a bigger problem. If it is not connected to the internet...who cares about updates then anyway as long as it runs?
Because all the cool stuff is only available on Linux: conky, devilspie (or even better window managers), multiple panels, terminals/shells (which are actually usable), ssh, package management software...the possibility to opt out of stuff you don't want (Metro, Unity, Gnome3...)...
But I have bad news for you anyway, asking a bunch of geeks what they want is different from asking a bunch of "OMG IT'S SO SHINY" guys. Hint: We're the minority.
If it comes to UI, I would trade "just works" with "can be customized via a settings dialog" any time! But nooooooo...yes, I'm looking at Gnome and Windows in the same devilish manner...
I'd actually *buy* Windows 8 for work if I could finally get a *real* window manager on that platform...
Okay, I guess P2A means Peer-To-Anyone and P2M means Peer-To-Many...but what does P2V stand for? Peer-To-Vehicle?
So Tech-Support quality will suddenly skyrocket?
Is it just me or does Gnome3 look more and more like a crappy Windows/MacOS-bastard rip-off?
I have to admit Visual Studios is a Decent IDE.
Yes, it is...for beginners.

That's like saying "I'll drive Mercedes if the Audi-Speedometer finally works in it!".

Sounds like we need to write a GUI in VB6 to get rid of it...
The request is part of a case involving an alleged gang leader and human trafficker named Dante Dears in California.
Emphasis are mine...I want it back when you're done.

I got my dick sucked by my boss' hottest secretary because I wrote an patch in C# that prevented our ERP system from total meltdown.
Let me guess, that was two weeks ago and the ERP system was also from Microsoft? ;)
So, essentially he argues for a real life denial of service attack. Bombard the system with traffic until it breaks under the load.
Yeah, sounds like it. But I have to ask what good would that do?
More like "*bingbong* It looks like you're low on oxygen. Please insert another coin to continue..."
The Longest Journey comes to mind.
True, relying on a company to care for you is a...well...not so great idea.

I thought we were still suffering from the last generation which realized you can code "Drag'n Drop"-style...our VBA/MS Access/Frontpage friends.
As long as it works: Never.
No repro, FlashBlock caught it.
Well, to be honest, I don't have an answer for that.
Summary: You use our services, we make money with whatever information we get from/about you.
No, I did not read it, why do you ask?
