Compared to the cost of employing a graphics artist (at 2 or 3 times their base salary) for a year the cost of PS/Adobe is trivial esp as you can amortize the cost over say 2 or 3 years and off set it against your tax.

We had an instance where a load (well over a thousand) of our mangers went to a conference to hear the CEO speak. When they all came out they found that some one had smashed the widows on a load of company cars and made off with peoples laptops.

what non internet based networks are you referring to CompuServe cix et all charged quite heavily - by the way i was deeply involved in the the UK's main ADMD (i was effectively root on the entire uk x.400 system) and I also worked on billing systems for them i know exactly what a PTT OSI based online system would look like it would not be a good thing!!!!

With out the internet you woudl have had OSI based networks which where designed by and for major telcos it would be 50 cents plus data charges to send an email - and you'd take what we give you sub and like it.

The cost of OS software is not a major factor in Data Center budgets the cost of the plant plus the power costs are much much more important
