    yes wish I could mod you up it was done deal all the plans had been made and coasted just needed the go ahead. but no "pretend" competition was preferred which made a ton of money for those in the city the investors in cable lost their shirts and Richard Branson picked most of it up for a song in the fire sale.

    It would be like those sting operations where the cops set up a "lottery" and invite all the criminals they have to arrest to win a prize :-) More seriously what do facebooks investors think about a C level executive consorting with illeagals presumably he will be supporting the SEIU and their campaign for "Justice for Janitors" or something like the London living wage even Bo Jo supports that one

    Yes some of the tube lines in London (metropolitan and circle) have these now much nicer than the older stock and the new trams in cities like Nottingham have have this as well.

    Are you really that stupid? The point I was making that a lot of the rich libertarians who want their own state will not have a place for non whites except as servants (Deltas as brave new world has it) - no matter if they all good BJP voting high caste boys and girls.

    The USA has a history of wacky religious/millennial utopian society's none of them lasted more than a few years and some ended really badly and does Mr Srinivasan expect there will be a place for colored people in this brave new world other than as navvies as is currently the practice in the middle east.

    David Cameron and 99% of all UK politicians come from the Liberal arts tradition and in the UK there is a very high wall between us oily and greasy engineers and scientists and in Davids milieu there is a prejudice against "girly swots" which is why Boris Johnson plays the fool so much.

    The last time the Torys had a scientist was Mrs T and the rest of the party dont really want to go back to being hand bagged - its also why dodgy schemes like free schools get so much traction there are no politicians who will analys the suggested schemes properly.

    Same as when you do a CCNA, CCNP and CCIE you have to learn what cisco thinks to pass the exams and bite you lip at some of the oddities - unless your like the Guy from BT Labs who on only getting 98% in his CCIE wrote a personal letter to john chambers pointing out why the CCIE exam was wrong - he was one of the three inventors of Ethernet though:-)

    American houses are often built using wood frames with limited lifespan when compared to brick or stone - the stone built the farm house next door to me dates back to the 1650's (john Bunyan preached there back in the day)

    If Juniper only allows those with a a Peng/Ceng to call them selves Engineers as opposed to other companies that take fresh grads and call the engineers that woudl explain it

    I have worked for major telcos where the term "engineer " was almost never used for professional job grades as that was what the Linemen where called :-)

    But still dont have a lot of the builtin primitives useful for scientific computer which is C and C++'s big limitation for the uber HPC type of aplications pklus you dont have decades of existing code and librarys that fortran will have.
