Great, now even more of us will be unemployed. Won't even be able to get a job tending bar, when a robot can replace us.
You think the economy is bad now, wait until unemployment is 60%./Yes, I know I can always train for a better job and work harder, but that doesn't change the numbers. In the future there won't be jobs for most people. What will society look like at that point, with a massive unemployed underclass?
Take half the money, divide it into 3 piles, for the 3 stakeholders: 1) Shareholders in the form of a one-time dividend. 2) Employees get a one time bonus 3) Customers get a gift card based on their purchases in the past quarter.
Apple is still left with 50 Billion, and keeps everyone happy.
Could this be the processor for a new Mac Pro? Or will Apple wait for Ivy Bridge.
I've had a Mac Pro (or its predecessor) under my desk for over 10 years now; upgrading regularly. Even if its not the top selling Apple Product, its still the machine that Pros are looking for.
The worst part (or best, depending on your perspective) is that he's probably cool with you not buying the TV, since he was going to make as much profit from the cable as from the TV.
During the last Canadian election, seniors (in mostly Liberal-leaning areas) were robocalled and told that there voting place had changed. Does "free speech" include the right to lie to people in an attempt to reduce the voter turnout of a specific group of voters?
The only way to sell it to the masses would be to promote it as the elimination of Income Taxes. Set a date (20 years?) by which point income taxes will be eliminated, and slowly ramp up the Carbon (GHG) tax while reducing income tax over the same period of time.
The majority of Canadians oppose the Conservatives. It is an unfortunate bug in our system of government that the centre-left and left-wing parties that together represents well over 60% of Canadians are in opposition at the moment.
As a Canadian, I can assure you that he most certainly is the Canadian version of Don Rumsfeld. And the Prime Minister is our very own Dick Cheney. (He's not Bush, he's much smarter than that, which makes him all the more dangerous)
This is the reason I play. I recognize the virtual impossibility of winning the jackpot, but between the time I buy the ticket and the time of the draw (or whenever I get around to checking my numbers) I get significant pleasure (far more than $1 worth) imagining what I would do if I won the jackpot.
However, giving this reason for playing, perhaps the most rational course of action would be to only buy one ticket, and simply never check the numbers...
Provides a handy counter-example to anyone who wants to point to government as inherently inefficient. Clearly it can be efficient when it wants to be.
...But, Clinton started out with a stellar academic career (you know, Rhodes scholar), wheras Obama went to a no-name college.
So you've never heard of those no-name colleges "Columbia University" and "Harvard Law School" (where he served as president of the Harvard Law Review)?
How much electricity could be generated by a network of solar panels built for the same cost?
(Genuinely don't know the answer, but curious if it would be more or less than the electricity generated by this project.)
I'm not sure what to think about this unless I can see some examples of what we're talking about. Does anyone have a link?

Are you trolling? You actually think its a good idea to waste taxpayer dollars going after weed?

When they hit $100B again, rinse & repeat.
I meant that I've had some flavor of Apple Pro product under my desk for 10 years, upgrading every 1-3 years. Not the same machine all that time

Not only can it scale, but eventually you get a very distributed power network (think solar panel on every rooftop & mini windmill in every backyard)

A tax cut while in a deficit situation is just a future tax increase.
Why do you want to keep raising taxes on your kids?
Sounds like a challenge...
Only Thomas and Breyer dissented; one of the most conservative, and one of the most liberal.

(Its been a while since I posted, and I really did forget what my sig said)
Such an agency would be inherently biased, because as Stephen Colbert has taught us, the facts and reality have a liberal bias!
You think his UID is old...

What? You're opposed to eliminating Income Tax?

The purpose of your entire post was just to brag about your size, wasn't it
Actually, the Liberals seems to be coming around on tech issues. They just last week released a statement in support of 'net neutrality.

New great lie of history: "I'm from (wall street/mortgage broker/bank/investment firm) and I'm here to help."
