    Thats nothing. The Canadian equivalent of Social Security is called Social Insurance. Every time I get a job or file my taxes I have to provide my Social Insurance Number.

    Good for them. Not because I think they should be charging for it, but because people will feel better paying for it.

    When you go to a manager and try to argue for free software over MS stuff, they can't get their heads around the idea that the one that is free has value. Managers just don't get it.

    The only way to convince some people that this is quality software, is to charge them money for it.

    Many people have posted here in an attempt to defeat the Star Fraction story on the HOF. I would argue that posting crap to this discussion with the sole purpose of beating the SF story makes us as bad as the person who crapflooded that story in the first place. Slashdot should be a place for meaningful discussion of important technological and social issues. You disgrace this holy place, and our exalted leader Commander Taco, when you crapflood.

    The article talks about how every cell phone in the USA will have embedded GPS, the government justifying it by claiming that its needed for emergency services. We all know the real reason for GPS to be in every cell phone
    Does anyone else see a disturbing trend here? GPS receivers are as small as a dime now. Imagine the police attaching one to the car of a suspect. Technology providing yet another way for our rights to be violated.
