A good manager will hire someone who has made a few catastrophic mistakes (and can admit to it) because a person like that, presumably, has A) learned a hard lesson and is not as likely to make other mistakes and B) will be more likely to admit to making a mistake instead of trying to cover it up.

    So... it DID delete all the hidden files. But it also deleted ../* erasing everything a level up from the directory as well (which was the root of that file system).

    I have that cold feeling in my stomach just reading this summary. ick.

    I did something similar (though not quite so destructive) nearly 20 years ago when I was first learning Linux.

    I my case I was trying to get rid of all the hidden files in root's (/root) home dir using 'rm -rf .*'

    Guess what that did?

    Yeah, that wasn't a highlight of my career...

    However, at least for me, it is about what margarine isn't rather than what it is.

    Margarine is not derived from a poor animal who is forced to be pregnant her whole life and stand in a stall with suction tubes attached. Margarine is one of the easier vegetarian options because it is a 1 for 1 replacement for butter.

  7. I think this is the solution as well.

    I mean, think of the portal toilet you see at construction sites or wherever. They are not gender/sex specific but nobody is up in arms about those because they are private.

    If bathrooms are built with privacy in mind instead of the stupid permeable walls in gender/sex specific bathrooms, then the problem solves itself.

  15. It's not just about the game visuals. It is about the game play, mechanics and key mappings.

    For example, if I cannot remap all of the keys in the game, I will not play it. I don't care how good the graphics are.

    As a matter of fact, graphics account for about 10% of the "is the game fun?" equation..

    Only the 2FA that requires input from the user because the input dialogs can be spoofed.

    If you have a system that calls you and requires you to press 1 (for example) which then triggers the server side to continue the workflow, that should still be secure... right?

    I just took a look at my Netflix subscription.

    It reads: Your price is guaranteed to remain $8.99 through at least October 8, 2016 so long as you stay a member.

    I have been paying $8.99 for at least the last year. So the price hike is $1/month for me and doesn't take affect until at least October...

    FB has its place. It is extremely good at getting your message out to everyone you care about.

    I rarely post anything on FB anymore, but I do keep it around and monitor it from time-to-time. I also keep Trillian signed in to FB messenger.

    It keeps me vaguely in the loop of events and makes me available for my friends and family to contact me. But I keep my privacy options up-to-date and don't use FB as authentication for anything else. Nor do I use many FB apps or games.

  25. That's like suggesting web browser developers should be angered that people use their product to connect to unsanctioned servers...

    Blizzard *sold* them the game client... they got their money for that development. User's are then using this client to connect to their own servers.... Why is this a problem?
