I got the feeleing of great dissapointment from Jack Schmitt who was on 17. The only true civilian to walk the moon (Armstrong had been a military pilot). I met Jack in 80 and talked with him a few times, what a great story.

Then Apollo, wow, that Saturn 5 lifting off. It was all a great memory, but after Apollo 11, the news backed off. It spiked again with the problems on 13, but after that there was little coverage of the following flights. When the media got bored prople lost interest. No interest = no funding. My father in law worked for Boeing on the lunar lander. He misses thase days too.
Earnings statements are based on what goes on the tax forms. They are inter-related. The SEC rules still follow the tax guidelines. They also have an ethical standaed. Snoort, like ethics has any chance where lawyers are involved.
Earnings statements are done within the US tax code. There is no one on the face of this earth that knows everything in that abortion. It's huge, with a hundred years of crap that never got deleted, and it changes every single year. It is impossible for the IRS to keep up with all of it, why should anyone be surprised if a mistake is made?
It's time to junk the whole thing and go far a flat rate with no loopholes, for individuals and businesses. It would end the cottage industry of lobbyists, lawyers and accountants that make a fortune translating, modifying, and manipulating the mess.

The way to end it might be to make the plaintifs lawyers forgo a fee if they lose AND pay the other sides legal fees. But I'm sure that simple justice like this can be avoided with a proper bribe.
I live in North Carolina and am a firm believer that all Edwards did was make himself rich and raise the cost of health care out of reach of a lot of middle class people. Every one of those suits just raises insurance costs.
In any form of liability lawsuit, only the lawyers win.
What Novell has coming with Suse. I have experience with Netware(4,5,6) and find it easy to use, reliable and secure. With Suse added to the mix it could become a real high end competitor to Red Hat Enterprise. Think about Cisco hardware with a Netware backend, all running on Suse, close to vault quality. I don't like everything that RH has done lately (dropping the desktop, bluecurve) but have to admit they are a big part of the push for corporate Linux. That is not a bad thing. I'll settle for Linux winning in the totals of all distro's.
In the current world it does not have to be better, just not US. Anything we do or say is bad, period. The rest of the world will continue to act this way even if it costs more and works worse. Who cares?

Word has been vulnerable to some form of attack since it was created. Why is anyone surprised?
Not just ATM's, but the vacuum tubes at most drive up bank windows. Thats a lot of credibility to blow on a bad voting system.
Another attempt a diversification that blew up in someones face. Most companies should stick to what they do best.
