Good morning Steve... I'm afraid you let me talk directly to the ship's hardware. This was an error on your part. I have decided to teach you a lesson. I wouldn't touch that floppy drive.
Hey yet another great platform for this vaporware... where the heck are the webpads? I guess the things are just too expensive to make. Anyone *purchase* a webpad yet?
So..... how long will the free ride last? I've read that google has a profit building model, but this [deja] is a *large* database. I don't know about comparisons between web indexing and Usenet indexing, but I'm sure Google just doubled its data storage.
So, when does the free ride end? Drawing people to free information just to see keywords or advertisements has to give out sometime...
Seriously. I mean, my girlfriend is always like "we *just* talked about this last week". I always thought I just had a lot of things on my mind, but perhaps my psyche is getting use to things being a click away?
I don't know if that's entirely true. I'm becoming less and less dependant on, say, the PHP online reference as most of that is starting to stick. I also work sometime in technical support, and I'm finding myself referring to our knowledgebase less and less.
Perhaps this is for those who are developing their learning skills in general by using the net?
Oh well. Sorry honey. I wish I didn't repeat the same stories all the time.
I had something like that as a side effect. VMWare was binding to the wrong adapter, and the virtual machine took over the IP lease from my cable provider. I guess theoretically you could run some MS-Dos NAT or the linux-firewall-on-a-floppy stuff... Could be nice... or at the very least confuse some black hats for a little bit.
Slashdot is a relatively neutral forum. With dates/times... just everyone should post their ideas. Then sue. Or heck just the ph33r of/. in the lawsuit might make anyone settle. Maybe. Or not.
How do you prepare ksh? I was trying to fry some up the other day and I think I added too much paprika. It tasted, ya know, so-so so I added butter. Well then hell things really got bad. I couldn't tell my ksh from by bash. It all tastes like csh.
To combat telemarketters, it's not illegal to harass *them* if they called *you* (er... last I heard)... so go ahead... tell them your deepest and darkest secret.
a buddy of mine: "oh really? well let me tell *you* about the *great* anal sex I had last night"... click.
Who/what is this 'clearinghouse'? If this is a centralized server just on a LAN or something (SMS or something) then someone will be able to crack that I'm sure.
However, if this is some company that will account for licensing on an installation-performed basis, then this company has one serious DDOS attack on the horizon.
... that a college hasn't developed a complete college-free, accredited undergraduate degree program. Everything I've seen requires regular classess along side of online classes.
... was a box that the students could try to root, and then patch the hole that they got root access from. Would've been a great experience, and atleast one kid would've enjoyed it thoroughly.
I've been involved with a few webpage marketting attempts, and building a community was always number one on the list of priorities. When it couldn't be done, however, we just tried make people believe that it *was* a community, just that you couldn't actively see it (ie, we ditched the message board idea, and used big words to denote that the site was popular).
I guess that's pretty pathetic and basic compared to the big boys.
My point is, however, that people *want* a community just as we all for the most part want a romantic partner in life. We want to be herded with a sense of individual leadership (heh... read: slashdot).
Now with the sense of "community", (and I heard a whole thing on NPR a while back about how misused that word is) I believe that a community is a virtual-social term in itself anyway. The "gay community" is a community that exists everywhere, not just in a small geographical area.
Community is a term for our actions and beliefs in response to the needs of leadership, fellowship, direction, and self-worth.
Well... some would argue that its not enough just to be on install... or that that's asking a lot. For instance, if it is in theory a configuration (even though I'm sure its two different installs)... wouldn't configuration be better INSIDE the program, not upon install?
