Not an outright ban, no. But what happens when they deem your computer not energy efficient enough? I'm guessing hefty fines and/or taxes, enough to make people like the OP want to leave.
The issue here is that people spend so much of their lives working to get by that they have no time to develop hobbies, so when that check comes they have no idea what to do with themselves.
Except when it doesn't, and your card re flows the soldier holding it together because the drivers suck. There's a reason nVidia was synonymous with house fires for about 5 years.
Its very relevant, as the side effect of this article will be "those damn white people" When racism is brought up the first thought in the public's mind at large is "white people being assholes"
The bit that they are failing to mention is how many of these drivers are minorities themselves. When I was in Seattle for PAX we had one white driver, every other one was black or Arab.

to be fair AMD hasn't released an new CPU in 5+ years.
of course people aren't buying AMD CPU's in the last six months, we've been waiting for the new ones to come out.
the ones that generate an additional page that makes your phone vibrate like mad and tell you "O NO UR PHONE HAS TEH AIDZ!!!" are my favorite.
