Finally, that Gondor charge on the orc-held city...made me think of the French vs Henry V's army at Agincourt. A heavily armored army of (largely) mounted knights charging across a muddy field and UP a hill towards an army loaded with archers using the longbow. Disaster.
I believe that was the point (hence Gandalf's line of "Faramir, don't throw your life away.") to show that despite how stupid it was, Faramir wanted daddy's approval.
Personally I think a response of "Screw you father" would have been better, but I don't think Tolkiens writing style went that way:)
Nothing in the movie looked fantastical or supernatural
all the more reason that it should be given an honor like this. Sure...you can make all sorts of cool FX based creatures, world, etc... that people know are cgi but still look cool. But if you can put it in a movie in a way that people don't know or wonder how did they film that then you've done a much better job.
I didn't mind this. To me it makes more sense anyway...he "organically" sticks to the wall, so why not organically shoot webs.
It may have also been done to make the movie flow better...now he can just run down the alley and rip his clothes off and he's Spiderman...no need to stop, attach web shooters, all that stuff. Gives us the nice Superman tribute in the new trailer:) I could go either way on it.
What, there's a suit-tree in his backyard? At Lowes...$29.99. They are all out of the good ones...the one I got only grows wonder-twin outfits...what a bummer:)
My wondering is the promoter saw what Parker could do...wouldn't he be a bit more concerned about trying to rip him off as he could "tear him apart".
The mention of the smart card has me confused. Looking at the site, it looks like he just soldered 4 wires on from a usb connector and was able to get the pictures with that.
Am I seeing that right? Smartmedia would be convienent, but I don't mind adding a wire out the side of it if that is all that needs to be done.
One of my favorite parts of RotK was when Sam and Frodo are forced to march with some of the Orcs in Mordor as they head towards Barad-Dur. Does anyone know if this scene will be in the movie or not?
My computer room is the bonus room in our house. Everything else is decorated or covered with kids toys. Right now it's my desktop and my router box. Already have a KVM to simplify. I have about 4 other computers I'm gonna bring on line soon (have a couple others, but the only use for them would be to play OLD games.
Obviously this one room get a bit warm in the summer, but stays okay in the winter. Any ideas on how to set something up to keep the machines - and the room - comfortable. I have access to the attic areas on all sides, and was thinking of putting a dryer vent from the back of the machines into the attic area as I've seen done elsewhere, but am also looking for other and better ideas.
What is annoying is I work for a university system that uses SCT's Banner product, like lots of schools. On the web component, it is recommended you get a $20,000 Sun or HP to run the Oracle iAS component, along with the annual maintanence costs.
Instead, we have a $3000 Dell running it just fine. Love the way the state wants us to blow money just because if someone calls about an issue, they have no one to pass the buck to.
For a while, we were running on an old sun box. The one time I called for support on the Oracle app, since adding an SSL cert was causing it to crash, they gave me the phone number and account number for support FOR SOLARIS. That's when I moved it to Linux. It's fun listening to the other people whine about the support issues and cost.
"We can not find someone else to blame or talk to when it doesn't work like it should."
I've seen it tons of times with OpenSource, Freeware and Shareware...people are hesitant to use it as a solution - not because it isn't up to the task, but if there is something that goes wrong, they can't call the company and get someone else to look at it, fix it, etc... someone to escalate the problem to.
It was much better than what I was expecting. I like the whole Phillip K. Dick ripoff aspect. I just wish they did show more of the robotic cylons.
I like the fact that it wasn't constant space battles. I like the fact that things were well lit as opposed to the tendency for everything to take place at night or in dark areas.
The little tributes here and there to the original series was kinda cool too...the Mark II's, the fanfare, By Your Command
Last year my wife got a Canon Rebel. She likes it a lot...she is like you, just getting into photography.
It can go full auto or full manual, or any number of half and half settings. As others will say, it is a plastic body (or as my brother-in-law says, doesn't have that "defend yourself against a mugger" feel to it) but it still works well.
Others on here will put it down for a number of reasons, but it's not that bad, takes wondeful pictures. As far as I'm concerned, they can make fun of it while they buy their $99 monster cables.:)
Best Buy - anywhere in (or sometimes near) the store, you can hear the car stereo section.
I was trying to compare two car cd players - the idiots salesmen in the are stood 4 feet from me as I was playing with settings, blasted some other unit and walked away.
My current one doesn't do this, but the phone I used to have would cause my speakers to hum. About 1-2 seconds before the phone would ring, the speakers would hum a bit, and then stop when the call was answered.
I just assumed my machine had ESP:) Makes you feel good about putting the phone up to your head though!

So what should replace it? Why is it the worst?
It's easy to sit around and say something sucks, but to defend that reason and offer insight into why something else is better takes a little more.
These advances must have been stolen from SCO...there is no way a bunch of random hackers could have thought them up an implemented themselves.
I don't care either way...I use aalib :)
Seriously, isn't this UserLinux, not developers, developers, developersLinux.
See...just one day after Bush signs the dma spam law and the spammers have gone and moved their operations off-shore.
I don't know about that. I would think I could tell them to kiss off.
What is to stop me from telling someone that they ahve something they stole and must pay me for it?
I think they need to be able to prove it before I should have to pay.
This seems too similar to if I came to your house when you weren't home, mowed your lawn and tried to charge you for it.
Guy with guns...that's easy for people to relate to.
:)
Guy waving hands in devil sign while wearing odd clothes...a little harder.
Guy with green ring producing eye popping 3d cgi fx...easy to relate to
I just wish they'd finally make a good Captain America movie.
Learns that with great power comes great responsiblity.
The organic web-shooters.

Well, there is already http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077469/ so I guess that means they'll have to do Green Lantern instead :)
so is quicktime.
It's all about the codec inside the wrapper file.
Either way -- it looks good.

Thanks!!!
Frodo of the Nine Fingers....and the Ring of Doom.
:)
I'm a rarity - I don't mind the Rankin-Bass stuff that much...at least it wasn't claymation
But yeah...that's the part.

If they didn't leave that in, they may as well remove her character altogether - she just becomes a VERY attractive annoyance.

The true answer is
"We can not find someone else to blame or talk to when it doesn't work like it should."

I've seen some Galactica on Bittorrent, none of the 1980 stuff.
This is the first time I've read this correclty. I keep reading "Peter Mayhew" but for some reason my brain kept translating it as Walter Matthau.
:)
Finally this time it clicks...because before it didn't make any sense.
