    There is the Torah. There are the Gnostic Gospels. There is the Book of Mormon. There are people who have put their faith in all of these. At some level you have to make a decision on what is and isn't scripture.

    Religion isn't the root. Human nature is the root of the worlds problems. People do evil stuff. People like oppressing other people. They find reasons for doing so.

    it should be harmless given your description. Doesn't mean it actually is. It could change the way some foods are digested. It could promote different digestive bacteria. It could chemically react with enzymes in your stomach. I suspect that it is none of the above. People who drink soda get fat. Fat people have more cells replicating/repairing than skinny people. You would expect that to lead to smaller telomeres.

    They reduced some of their prison population by moving them from state prisons to federal prisons. They also moved prisonors to county jails.

    A jail is for arrested people. Prisons are for convicted people. There is alot of overlap because of lack of space in prisons or in jails. You may be held in a prison if they lack space in the jail and vice versa.

    Sorry. They removed lead from gas in the 70's. Crime went down in the 90's because people start going to prison after they turn 18 years old.

    Crime went down in that period because they remove lead from gasoline in the 90's. Lead in the air was driving people slightly crazy leading to more crime. This was especially pronounced in cities where the air was much dirtier than the countryside. Crime went down everywhere where lead was removed. Had nothing to do with how the police fought crime.

    It depends who you count. People in prison plus people on parole is at all time high. I read other stories and they state that prisons are still over capacity and the federal goverment is looking at buying some unused prisons from the states.

    A language dies when there are no longer programmers who are able to code in it. The langauge literally dies as people retire and die off. Well documented languages that are simple to learn will never die. COBAL is dying as a useful language as new programmers stop learning it and people retire. Economics still provide enough incentive for people to learn the language so it is dying slowly. They things listed at the top are still on peoples resumes. So they are not dying

    Also, international law in the form of signed treaties are law in the US, per the Constitution.

    Treaties require a 2/3 vote by the Senate in the US Constitution. This vote creates a local law. The Senate can repeal that law. So like I said. International law only exists if the participating countries enforce it with local laws. The closest thing to international law in the United States are rights. Under American legal philosophy these rights are not created by the Constitution. Rather they are given to man by God or are self evident human rights. Thus privacy, freedom of speech, the right to bear arms, our God given rights. They apply to non citizens because God gave those rights to all people.

    Yes. It was always legal for them to steal from us. Russia invading Ukraine was also legal.(Russian congress literally passed a law anexing the region) It is also legal for them to nuke a US city. It was legal when the US used sanctions to limit trade with Russia.

    All national goverments are above international law. International law only exists if a participating country enforces it with a local law.

    Lots of companies have gotten to the prototype phase of a roadable aircraft. None of them worked liked the cars seen in the Jetsons.

    Presumably this is about searching with a warrent.

  20. 1) Your bottom two points don't really pan out. A simplified mission means less things to check and double check. 2) The contract was taking crew to the space station. Capsules are proven method of doing that. If NASA is going to spend money on a space plane mission it should have the plane do something else.

    I don't know how I feel abou this. If you don't put gass in your car it will also stop. Not putting gass in your car could result in you being stuck in traffic or stalled in a bad neighborhood. These people know their cars are going to stop. They are just trying to push the system and see how long they can drive before they lose the car. As long as it is 100% predictable that the car will stop starting after a given period then I am fine with this.

    I said the summary is a rant. I did not read the linked article. The quote appear to have been cut up quite a bit. Notice all the ... in it. The summary starts off with hyperbolic statements, freshly defined jargon, and lots of insults. It contains no news. It is an "Us" vrs "Them" opinion piece with an angry tone. It is a rant.

    The worst thing I am reading in these comments is basically "I don't understand the summary".

    Insult Insult Insult. No reasonable argument here.
