    Actually if people started shooting at business leaders every time they made these decisions they'd stop pretty quick.

    Not the bravest bunch in history, not do they have the courage of their convictions.

    The question is do you *REALLY* care that much about it that you'd do life in prison (or maybe the death penalty) to advance the cause?

    Rigid gramar and spelling were a temporary product of printing presses, they didn't exist before, and they won't exist after.

    Get used to it.

    People who understand grammar, however, will retain an advantage in being able to communicate clearly, and without ambiguity. Smoke it if you got it.

    Apple's airport express shouldn't be overlooked either.

    cheap, easy wireless networking and it pipes your music to the stereo.

    I imagine if sales do dip dramatically they'll burn some cash in discounting to retain momentum.

    A freiend and his wife came around to look at my iBook the other day as they were thinking about buying a laptop.

    As everything was as snappy as you'd expect the issue for them was the software and the lack of viruses.

    They bought an iBook the next day despite my warning about the PPC ->intel shift.

    A lot of people don't upgrade the software much once they've got it.

    The typical corporatw market is a big one, but with every surburban computer store selling their own white boxes that's also a big truckload of machines

    ditto at weekend computer markets which do a thriving business in these parts at least.

    Dell make incompatible crap and most people know it. They also like being able to go back to the person who sold the machine and getting it fixed, not arseing about with shipping.

    It's not like we've come to blows with the giant squid yet either.

    Not to mention they neglect the possibility that life has been moving around the galazy for a long time in the star wars universe, so adapatation to unusual niches is vastly more likely than evolution in a hostile space.

    Most attempts to quantify it have whiteboxes at least a third of the market, maybe more.

    they were bundled OEM licences.

    And while I personally wouldn't have ordered them like that, they were the ones the IT guy wanted.

    A lot of offices are vendor locked
