    This cone would cost less that an aircraft carrier. They had to start welding it a month ago.

    But you see, with an aircraft carrier we can conquer 100 working wells, which is much better than fixing one of our broken wells.

    Actually I would rather not have Google work on any of those things you listed. All of these features can be provided by third-party developers so there's no need to burden Google's engineers.

    What Google should be doing is improving the speed and stability of the entire Android OS, most critically the Dalvik virtual machine. For crying out loud they just enabled JIT on 2.2.

    Many countries (Lithuania, Aland Islands, Ghana for example) have sharp peaks in their reported bandwidth. At first I thought it might be tourism related and thus could be a seasonal thing, but these peaks have a period much longer than a year.

    Does anyone have any good ideas on what's causing these peaks?

    I'm more interested in Tanzania. I'm not quite sure what the scale on either direction is, but it looks like it's zero to... something... halfway through. What, did the first person in Tanzania get broadband in the middle of the month?

    Must be one of those flights with on-board wifi passing through their airspace.

    The whole thing has nothing to do with the competence of VP8's designers. It all depends on the competence of Google's lawyers.

    While I agree with your sentiments, there are two major problems with that approach:

    1. PTO is part of the federal government, which means the tax payers will end up paying for patent trolls' expenses.

    2. It's practically impossible to hire enough experts in every single field of high tech research to keep up with the state of art. Corporations and universities put in trillions of dollars into research every year, so it'll cost at least a portion of that trillion to validate each patent claim.

    The factory is in PRC, not ROC. I've been there.

    Foxconn is a ROC-based company running most their manufacturing operations in PRC, just like most American corporations.

    After all, if people are killing themselves by jumping off the roof, the smart thing to do would be to get rid of roofs.

    That's just silly, even if we got rid of roofs people will still jump off bridges.

    The correct solution is obviously getting rid of all the people. Only then will be suicide rate be 0.
