really now, do you believe what you're saying? I mean look at Windows for example. Keep that in your mind and repeat to yourself what you're saying. "when all the weaknesses have been fixed" is not on the MS project calender anywhere, my boy.
Too expensive if you got the service you paid for? no.
Not worth it most of the time? yes.
I had AT&T @home for awhile, and I went back to my old dial-up after about a year of hassle. First came the bandwidth caps that were insanely low (16k upstream? that's almost as slow as my modem...). Then there was the gigantic amount of downtime. I probably only got 5 days of service a week. When it was up and working, I'd always lose service to huge chunks of the net at a time. After all that shoddy service, they still decide it was time for a price hike. I would have been fine with that if they'd have been doing a good job already.
I'd rather stick with my reliable and slow dial-up then get screwed in the cornhole for the price and not be able to use the service 2 days a week.
Hear that AT&T? I'll gladly pay 50 bucks a month for your service if you provide me with 7 day a week access, and institute reasonable bandwidth caps.
Do you agree with your punishment? I mean, from someone else's point of view, if asked, would you say "Yeah, he got what he deserved" or "Thats entirely too harsh"
Could be hard to think like that while facing jail time though...
(and please everyone, ignore the right/wrong/moral/immoral base of this question)
You think I'm paying to go to school so I can learn? I'm paying for 5 years of quick music, movies, and porn, damn it. Turn off my network access and I'm going to community college.
This is just another reason to implement my simple plan:
Most geeks own more than one computer, so this is no big deal. If not, then buy one, you lazy asshole.
Plan:
1 box connected to internet. Put your games and IM crap on this machine.
1 box not connected to the internet in ANY way shape or form. NO NETWORKS OF ANY GODDAMNED KIND. Put everything else on this machine, and do whatever you like without any worry. Watch kiddie porn, reverse engineer Jesus, type up flyers about Scientoligists eating babies, anything "illegal" or "wrong"....who cares!
Only drawback is the hassle of transfers between one box to the other via hard copies and the money you may or may not spend on another box if you want to.
I figure another decade or so, and this will be the only way to avoid spyware/crazy shit.
No, they know what commercials EVERYONE is watching, not YOU. Stop trying to act like such a goddamned ignorant savior. RTFM.
If they know that one person in ten thousand was jerking off to a britney commercial, that's all they know. They don't know WHICH person in ten thousand was jerking off.
I've used emusic before and I totally agree with furiousgeorge, so there. I expect to pay no more than ten bucks for a CD. When I went to a Rancid show a year or two ago, they sold all their CDs for six bucks. I bought a few. Most every band I've seen live (mostly punk and ska) sells their albums at the show for under ten bucks, and I almost always buy them. But when I go to the local CD store and see an album for $21, I'm not particularly thrilled, so I download it off the internet. foo.
First, the off topic part....
When I first heard about all this Metallica Vs. Napster crap...I immediately ripped my Metallica albums (that I am ashamed to have bought) to MP3, put them all on one CD, and then sold the originals back to a local record store. Hah.
But anyway, What I have noticed is that if you don't have an amazing sound card and speakers, you're not going to be able to tell the difference between 160Kb and 1024kb. I have most of my older albums ripped in either 128kb and 190kb and I can't tell the difference unless I turn it up really loud and listen very carefully. And I do have a decent sound card and speaker system.
It's good to see that you used them so much and obviously still don't know what you're talking about. And calling this guy "shit for brains" after he corrects your ignorant reply? Right, I forgot, here on the internet, personal attacks easily counter well though out, fact based arguments.
No, but the REVIEWER was REVIEWING the movie FOR people who HAVE played the game. He seemed to be aiming it towards people who have played it, anyway. Also, a REVIEWER of a movie should have some background knowledge of it...so Katz should have played or at least known about the game a little better, therefore
"Why do we have a person reviewing a movie based on a game when that person hasn't ever played the game."
still rings true.

I don't get it. All this worry over all this copyright protection is just plain dumb. The fact remains that if you can see it or if you can hear it, it can be duplicated.
First off, music:
If you can hear it, it can be duplicated. For one, theres always the age old method of RECORDING it with a microphone. And actually, yes, you can get a nice quality sound from that especially with some tweaking. Hell, I still have a 1/8th to 1/8th cord I use to rip tapes to mp3. Just plug it from the headphone jack to the microphone jack. Works wonders. There are MANY other methods that I really don't feel like getting in to.
Second off, Video:
DVD ripping will ALWAYS be possible as long as it can be played on your computer. I have a million and a half programs that clock in at under a few megabytes that can rip video directly from a desktop. Hell, I use those to copy the realvideo movies that I can't download but want to watch without downloading again. On TV? Again, just use the age old method of screen camming. And again, you CAN attain a VERY nice resolution with the proper equipment. Again, there are also about a million methods of manual copying that I haven't mentioned.
--------------------------- "I'm not gonna say anything inspirational, I'm just gonna fucking swear a lot"
Moderators, for the millionth time, could you please stop wasting your time and points modding down trolls and first posts when there are still interesting and important things at score 1 that need to be modded UP in order to get noticed?

Okay, sure, no denial of service, we've established that.
But things are transmitted via a small radio? Suppose someone is really really bored and decides to figure out how to hack those airwaves and report false information regarding the patient...what then? The pacemaker itself is never even involved in the process then. So it doesn't really matter how secure that actual piece of equipment is...

I can understand the concern, but having the source code to some MS software doesn't equal having access to the germans computers. Maybe they could find a way in easier if they had the source code, but still, I hate to be a troll, but there are plenty of bugs and exploits being discovered for MS software WITHOUT having the source code, you would think THAT would be their reasoning....
