  1. Now all we need... on Homebrew Development for the Dreamcast VMU · · Score: 1

Is someone to create a little MP3 list maker. (No, not a player, I do NOT mean a player.)

Just work a little "magic" to get the Dreamcast to read MP3 tracks from a CD-R disc. Then, using the VMU, transfer the list to it, and you can go run over to a friend's place and compare lists.

hmmm, OK this is actually sounding pretty pathetic. Forget I said anything.

hmmm, that's interesting, because this research was not done solely for the purpose of making and selling toys. The toy products we are seeing are a result of an idea to sell them to get an extra avenue of revenue for further research.

Everyone assuming that the rats were used for testing, to ONLY sell the toys, are jumping to conclusions.

To put it another way, the toys are a byproduct of the research, not the original reason for the research.

    Quote from Prolume website:

"Valuable life science uses for NanoLight's technology include high-throughput drug discovery, functional genomics, tumor imaging, replacement of radioisotopes, and molecular diagnostics. One particularly exciting application is the ability to use NanoLight's reporter systems to "illuminate" gene and molecular function within living cells, allowing pharmaceutical companies a revolutionary method to study drug activity. A second opportunity is to broadly supply researchers who are increasingly moving away from radioactive reagents and toward light-based reporter systems and instruments. NanoLight Technologies is poised to capitalize on both of these accelerating market trends."

Quote 2 from the CNN article:

"The idea is to raise enough money from selling novelty items to underwrite more important pursuits, such as using the glowing genes to identify cancerous tumors or detect nerve gas."

It appears to me that people are seeing the term "animal testing" and immediately going into some type of "environmental gestapo" mode without first being fully aware of the motives and facts behind said animal testing.

The path you choose to take in school does not make you an intelligent person.

Much more can be gained from real-world job experience, than can ever be gained in school. This is not to say that school is a waste of time either. Education is meant to prepare you for the job world, and should be treated as such, and nothing more.

As well, I haven't found it written anywhere, where it's said that you stop learning once you graduate. Unfortunately, there are people in the world that seem to live this philosophy, which is quite sad. I wouldn't be surprised if there's some type of scientific research body doing something about combining these 2 technologies.

For the lazy people out there, this is what I posted on Oct 29, 1999:

"These flexible transistors can have a huge benefit to the medical community. Imagine, if you will, taking these transistors, and combining them with nano-technology. Albeit, that's at the far end of the spectrum, but still ... it makes for some interesting ideas.

In the more immediate future, I can see them being used in prosthetic devices, tissue implants, etc.

Combine that with tissue cloning (not sheep cloning, and not full-blown human cloning either. I'm talking just a skin covering like the Borg gave Data in the 2nd Next Generation movie ... the name escapes me at this time), and some serious AI (we're far from that still), and we'll have Cyborgs a la Terminator (a friendlier name will have to be thought of though. One of them is my posting, the other is by an individual who used the "homeless people" argument, as you mentioned.

Let me point out that I did not mention helping poor or homeless people in my posting. My message simply stated that there are much more deserving "charities" (not people) out there who should be targeted.

Now, since you placed my posting in the group that you so richly singled out, let me point something out to you. People with cancer, heart conditions, diabetes, or any other type of physical condition, did not bring their condition upon themselves. With that in mind, you would do well to think about what you say in the future.

Perhaps if you personally knew of someone who suffered from cancer, diabetes, heart problems, or some other type of physical condition, you would think differently.

Do what again, you say? How about messing up with landing zone data, for starters? Gee, it's strange how nobody at Lockheed Martin knew about the landing zone until it was virtually too late to do anything about it. The above quote from the article gives me the impression that either:

    1. JPL knew about the risks all along, and never told anyone about them.

    2. JPL didn't know about the risks (like they should have), and are now trying to cover their butts by saying, "Hey, it's not our fault! It's impossible to land anything safely on that planet!"
