The Maemo tablets have been around for years.
Also, there are several Android tablets coming out, the most impressive being the Adam tablet.
What's so genius about a large iPod Touch?
From the looks of it, the iPad is a really bad device with horrible ergonomics. Its only saving grace in the market will be the fact that a trendy company is making it.
Also, I don't see how "competitors are just now catching up to the complete package". I consider my G1 to be superior from almost every point of view, even more so the Droid/Milestone.
While BASIC was (is?) a rather bad language overall, programmers of today are blessed with at least two excellent high-level languages with large communities that they can use for almost anything: Python and Ruby.
Verification is still in its infancy, it has a long way to go before it'll be practical to use over test-driven development. And nothing is actually unequivocally proven anyway, so it's not the silver bullet people make it out to be.
Model checking right now is in evolutionary cul-de-sac because people focus on stuff like VDM instead of integrating model checking into existing good languages.
Rather than waste time on Facebook, a better use of nights awake is to contribute to an open source project. Since their communities are so diverse, you are bound to find someone else awake at the same time working on the same thing.
There's a reason for that, keeping the uninitiated and/or stupid out of the debate. Spam filtering.
While I don't entirely agree with that, it's a fair point to make.
Prejudice based on facts is somewhat more justified.
I tend to share the same prejudice. After the recent frivolous lawsuits against HTC, even more so.
If you really need a physical drive, you'll have to make your own controller or use really old hardware.
Why not try a virtual drive? I bet qemu has quite a bit of helpful source code. Real filesystem source code might also be helpful, like ext2/ufs.
They only harassed me with letters. At some point a rep did come round, saw my TV was hooked up to my console alone and left. I didn't hear from them since.
In fact, there is a good reason for that, too.
If your code gets compiled by some old/stupid compiler, anything after an #include might end up starting on the included file's last line.
Java is horrible for beginners and too restrictive for experts. So that leaves Python.
No, you didn't just suggest Perl...
Regardless of how they justify it, it's still genital mutilation. And it's still fucking evil.

The lack of operator overloading makes code needleslly complex. What's simpler: a + b or a.add(b) ? Java is a huge failure with good marketing.
Ta-ta tatata ta taaaa ta ta.

Can we please mod article authors?

Well, you're wrong. It's got nothing to do with POL. In fact, Crossover predates POL. Codeweavers is basically the day job of several wine devs.
Since they even have console ports, I'd expect a full port. In the worst case, I believe Steam will act as a wine gui (much like Crossover).
It is indeed possible that they'll use winelib (like the linux version of Picasa). But I doubt it, they've just switched their Steam to webkit.
more than you guys.
Not suing is not a "fantastic gesture on their part".
I've come to Britain to study. I really want to leave as soon as possible.

Being a Romanian, I can tell you for sure that we were very lucky some of the few sane people in charge ended up deciding on this.
No proprietary software has been added except drivers and such. Mono may be uncertain from a patent POV, but it's still open source.
