This is the most irrelavant piece of news i've seen in slashdot for a long time, I mean shopping, so what. And the sad thing is 100+ dotters will try and impart their vast (aka none)knowledge on the rest of the community. What's next? Barbie's divorce range?.

I use to work for a big american game company and everyone there agreed that it is the games that sell the console, playstation 2 has brought some great games in the past year like metal gear solid and gran turismo , or james bond, i mean these are just sequels but the graphics are so amazing and the cost of the console so cheap that people were tempted to get the console to play this games, granted that sony makes all the money from games' licenses, but gaming is now seen as mainstream entertainment, the piracy issue is bullshit, it's like music they make tons of money and whinge about piracy, however having worked in the business I hate the sequel-mentality of these companies, just don't believe the hype of magazines, they all play ball

I've read the apple biography, and i think Woz never actively worked for Atari, he was at HP at the time although he did write the code for the game (was it pong?), that Jobs laid claim to, in true geek style he completed the coding in one night when jobs challenged him to do it, i could be wrong but i think Woz moved form old el paso safe-job HP directly to Apple and jobs bummed around taking on Woz's work with him.

"Can we possibly offer you an upgrade to Windoze 4024:The Borg Edition", yeah right. My personal point of view is that if they want to collect information on me, fuck them, I am *clever* enough to make my own mind up, and not fall for this personalization shit, but I guess that something good will come out of this, whilst all these "aol" dumbasses finance the internet we can have relatively free services such as this, which at the end of the day, makes how much money?. P.S. Does this mean that all the advertising that I will be receiving will be porn related, where's the fun in that, I rather waste my **own** time looking for it.

Pocket PC will die, a slow but painful death. Pocket (P)ile of (C)rap: The Road Ahead, another great chapter in (M)(S)hit -The American Dream

  15. Microsoft X5 on US PlayStation 2 To Have A Modem & Hard Drive? · · Score: 2

Microsoft will probably only release anything decent after the fifth version, and by the time it does, it probably only be as good as PS1, but seriously, Microsoft *is* going to flop with this very much in the same way that they flop in every single field that they go into in which they know nothing about, **unless**, they buy into someone, and judging by Sega and Nintendo's poor showing, I wouldn't be that surprised.

  16. Take jennicam seriously on JenniCam Celebrates 4-Year Anniversary · · Score: 1

Ok, so after 4-5 hours of the site being down I decided to go back just to see if the site was back up, so much of the first internet star, still out, so taking the advice of a slashdotter, that there was more to jennicam than watching this b*tch doing her boyfriend, I decided to read her journal entry, and i was astounded: And other big news! Actually, much much bigger news - I got the house in Sacramento! It's a two bedroom, one bath apartment with a side and back yard, gardens, a fireplace, washer/dryer, a cute little enclosed back porch and loads of possibilities! I'm not too excited about the carpeting, for both decorative and asthmatic reasons, but the realtor said I may be able to talk the owner into letting me refinish or replace the hardwood floor under the carpet. I'm not too excited about the carpeting, for both decorative and asthmatic reasons, fuck me, the meaning of life, as lame as My Dear Fiary, man whoever goes to this place for consolation ,get a life, or maybe some new carpets.

  17. Napster on Napster, Gnutella, Bans, Lawsuits And More · · Score: 1

Rip[ing off the loyalties of these so-called artists is obviously illegal, but what this highlights is something very different, if Napster can do this for free, why should you pay over the odds for the same product, has metallica or any other band thought of giving Mp3 versions of their album for a much lesser price, let them sue, do i really wanna pay $10 or whatever so that some dumb-ass can buy himself another merc, get high on cocaine or whatever, what they need is a **reality-check**, just remember when people had to pay for browsers, yet people who want to are quite happy to pay for the goods, it's illegal so what, were ripping off artists of their hard earned royalties, yet right, most of them haven't done a hard day labour in their life, the market is changing, the problem is they rather throw money at it than face it, but believe me it won't be that long before the whole music industry changes, and if they take napster down, another one will crop up.

  18. When's it's gonna stop on Gag The UK Net in 3 Easy Steps · · Score: 1

Taking the events surronding, the Demon libel case, what is happening is that no ISP is prepared to go to court over any libel-related content, however, a lot of Americans talk about free-speech, but nevertheless you are getting your ases sued, this is unlikely to ever take off in england because no one is prepared to run the risk of hosting anything branded risky, similarily mainland Europe is hardly any better, so what are the solutions, has anyone thought of setting up an ASP in Cuba,(communisms is the solution?). I wonder what the implication for Napster,Gnutella and Freenet would be if hosted in England.

  19. Ruling on DOJ Wary Of Breaking Up Microsoft · · Score: 1

Based on the ruling, Microsoft was found guilty of anti-comptitve practices in the browser department, if the doj rules that they must break up I don't think they can do it on this ruling alone, what will most probable happen is that MS will have to give equal stance to all browsers, alternatively, they could open up the code for the offending browser (i.e 4.0) which was a pile of shit. They are more likely to aim low to solve the case quickly, a decision to break up would drag on for years, the likely benefit is a lot more browsers on shindows xx(insert current year), and in the end it will become an non-event
