If, however, I program and have the government pass a law to make you pay for my work when we're all supposed to be sharing (playing nice), that is theft, especially if you miss out on the opportunity to get a similar law passed.

For certain functions such as copying and pasting it's quicker to hit two keys command-c with the hand that never leaves the keyboard than right-click-pull-down-select-copy-release. You can even do it stone drunk with your eyes closed.

In short, more mouse buttons do not always make a better or easier user experience. IMHO they are more of a crutch for those incapable of elegant design.

I really don't think the answer to audio reproduction is more channels. If you sit in the center and far enough back from the stage there will be little difference between what's going in your right and left ears. Sure we can fake ambiance with more channels, but isn't it because we need it to distract ourselves from the qualities of live performance that are missing?

Not to knock GNU/Linux on things, but the vast majority of developers copy the poor Windows GUI. Thus I have stuck with the Mac while using a Linux box for the few things I can't do with MacOS 9. Which are basically Apache, PHP, & MySQL on a PC with two connections: power and ethernet.

The lack of pre-emptive multitasking usually doesn't get in the way. The errors forcing a reboot are not really any worse than WinNT. So it comes down to the multiple monitors and interface that doesn't get in the way of how I work, and the closest thing I've seen yet is the old SunOS desktop.

That is where we disagree. I believe that people will do the do the ignorant, selfish thing first. (Present company excepted.) America is too big to see the results of our actions, we can run from our problems, bury them in decaying cities, dump pollutants where no-one has the power to object.

The difference between the Indies and the Bandies is one of responsibility. Bandies believe that Indies are going through life with blinders on, refusing to see the effect of their actions on others... Driving over families of squirrels, racoons and bunnies in their Mercedes SUV, never noticing the soft bump, only watching out for the other SUVs.

Yes, I believe that Americans as a culture just don't notice anything that doesn't affect them. Our advertising industry and mass media seem to only exist to perpetuate this problem.

If you want to see a difference in platforms, compare the Libertarian platform on education to the Natural Law party's. Notice that one is detailed (with references), the other is a generalization.
