A few year ago a similar act was proposed in Maine but abandoned after realizing that due to Facebook’s privacy policy and ToS agreements (at the time), By the employee giving his/her password to their employer and the employer accessing the account (which violated Facebook’s ToS because the employer was not the owner of that account), if Facebook wanted to, they could file criminal charges against the employer which due to the ToS would link the employer’s action to violating the computer fraud and abuse act
The problem with stronger consumer protection laws is that the publishers can nullify them by altering their ELUA. What needs to be done is a law that forbids EULAs from trumping laws and civil rights.
Companies that use such draconian DRM and treat their customer like this are one of the major causes of mass piracy of games. I believe the publisher should be held accountable in some way for causing the growth of pirated software.
These are the people the RIAA, MPAA, etc. should be focusing on and suing for the large sums of money. Not the little sharer that makes no money off downloading media.
Try to become a witness in a high profile case that will require that you be put into the witness protection program. Problem solved. No more obligation to pay $1.5 million fine.
if it was creating gold from a cheap abundant element, this technology and research would be destroyed and the scientists involved, killed. Such technology would radically change the global market and such change is greatly feared and those with the power will do everything possible to prevent the change of the status quo. Legal or illegal
Things are very different now than they were pre-1710. Today, money and greed run the world. There are the few who care more about the message than the money.
If patents and copyrights were abolished, there would be little motivation to create anything. No more music, movies, TV, books...need I go on? Same with new technologies. Progress would cease.
The true purpose of copyright is to motivate the creators to continue creating in this sense. Creator creates song which is copyrighted and they profit from their creativity. Copyright expires. If Creator wants more income, use their creative mind to create more great works and copyright them. A creator’s great great grand children should not be profiting off their ancestor’s work.
Because of how quickly technology changes, software copyrights should be greatly decreased. Windows XP’s copyright expires in the 2090’s. Think there will be any hardware that could run XP in the 2090s? or even in 2050? I believe software copyrights should be 20 years. Look at the market for classic games which are no longer manufactured, marketed, supported or profitable (abandonware) yet the copyright holders often continue to enforce copyright.
Copyright, according to the constitution, is supposed to be limited, but it is continuously being lobbied for perpetual extensions. For instance, the Copyright Term Extension Act (aka Mickey Mouse protection act) was heavily pushed by Disney because Mickey Mouse was approaching the end of its copyright term and as 2019 approaches, you can bet that Disney will lobby for another extension of copyright
That's what happens when you allow yourself to be pressured, harassed and bullied by Hollywood. Hastily comply with their demands before checking to see if it is legal.
Another plus about Comodo is that it is the only free AV + firewall that can be installed on Server 2003, 2008 systems. All other free AV are not compatible with servers OS or will detect the installation on a server OS as commercial use and state that you must buy a business edition
I have been using Comodo Internet Security Suite for years now and have been quite pleased with it. In fact its the only free anti-virus that I can install on Server 2008 R2. Only downside in my opinion is that it does not like game trainers.
However, I have been hearing a lot of positives about the WSE.
In the US, if average Joe citizen, if discovered and on public land, the process would probably be, detained, ID/background check, questioned, film/SD card removed from camera, harsh warning and be on your way. Not certain though.
Different scenario if suspected spy
At this point, why don't they just modify their EULA to nullify every consumer protection law and civil right ever written since it appears that EULAs can override any law or right
They panicked and whined to congress and unleashed their lawyers when the VCR could capture and convert analog TV signals to VHS format
They panicked and whined to congress and unleashed their lawyers when the DVR could capture and convert digital TV signals to a video file
Now they panic again and whine to congress and and unleashed their lawyers when software can capture and convert streaming content to a video or music file.
The past two cases were deemed legal. Why should this be any different?
First off the US is not a democracy, we are a constitutional republic. If we were a democracy, we would have a vote in every act and bill that goes through congress. Unfortunately, true democracy is what big business, lobbyists and the political elite DO NOT want. They would lose their influential power on our government

Be careful what you say here or they might sue us too.
I believe Frivolous Software Patent Litigation to be a major impeder.

Ok, so gold chloride, a worthless substance, can be converted to gold. Now, how abundant or rare is gold chloride?

I am presently working on a degree in digital forensics. Courses include how to work with mobile devices.
Another +1 for EFF
He should try contacting the Electronic Frontiers Foundation to see if they could help him.
Take a few pictures deep underwater W to SW of Santorini and see what happens if/when you are caught.

I'll remember not to take my camera if I do a tour of Greece for vacation.
