Well techie fans certainly will listen to a few track via MP3 or RealMedia before buying. Since this album isnt what 'Play' was they are probably not buying '18'. I listed to '18' via real audio and was disappointed. There is no 'Body Rockin' on this CD. It is very sedate and not dancy at all. Not to say it is a bad album. I was just hoping for something with a bit more jump.

I built a dream game system about a year ago. Huge case. 3 30 gig Deskstar drives. GeForce 2. Problem was the lights dimmed when I turned the beast on, and it sounded like a Jet Engine when I finally got enuff fans in to keep its heat down when playing quake III. Between the whine of the drives and the roar of the fans I couldn't stand to be in the same room as it. Plus it gave of an ozone smell. Headache city.

So I gave that system back to my company (they paid for the parts) and bought a system from Alienware. Nice and quiet. Stable and fast.

So my advice is go with a small but reputable builder like Alienware, Voodoo, or Falcon Northwest and save your self a headache.

If they charge enough for the product, like my telephone provider does, to make a profit, they will not need to advertise to the user. I mean sure there will be incentive to do so to grab a few extra bucks, but at the point it becomes annoying they will lose customers to competition. I guess what it is really goin on is balancing subscription price/add revenue with the friction co-efficient being based on how annoying the advertising is to the user. This is kinda like aol where people subscribe but still get advertised to. I don't know how anybody stands aol. I guess making it easy for the masses goes a long way.

Well Sega certainly seems to be losing them all with Saturn and Dreamcast.
Agreed that PS2 success lies primarily in the fact that it has more games/developers. This is why the Intel architecture beat Macintosh in the 80's, because to play most games you had to have an Intel/Microsoft machine.
There really cant be any other reason because X-box hardware is superior to PS2 in every way.
BTW Saturn's hardware was more powerful then PS2 but it didnt matter. Sony had the developers.
I myself bought PS2 primarily to play FF X, Metal Gear Solid 2, and Gran Turismo 3. The only thing I am interested in on X-box is Halo and I really dont need another shooter.

I bought 2 Dell 2400's preloaded with Red Hat and I ended up reinstalling them both anyway because I didn't like the way the partitions were set up and there was a lotta extra stuff installed.

Any tech support I needed for those machines I got from RedHat. The only thing you really need from Dell are the drivers for their SCSI and RAID cards. I don't see any real need for linux support from Dell aside from providing linux drivers. They send you over to Redhat anyway for most questions.

I guess it is more of an IT managers ability to cover his/her ass with techsupport issue. If Redhat would support all Dell's hardware (which it may or may not) then who needs Dell's support?

My forays into using linux/xwindow/gnome/kde as my workstation alwasy end up with this or that not working and my having to hack to fix it. Now dont get me wrong I like to hack but I get plenty of that at work administering sun and linux servers. I don't want to waste time hacking my workstation, and figuring out how to interact with the rest of my company who do not use linux(opening and creating excel sheets and word docs and so on).

    Did I mention games?

Linux will never beat windows as a workstation on today's x86 hardware. The best we can hope for is to make a big dent in the server market and maybe be the OS for the nextgen PDA's that replace our workstations.

I always thought one of the big problems with the x-files is that little thought is put into the plot and a whole lot of reliance is put onto atmosphere. I always fell like the show is 'Oh look Mulder something really weird happened and we have absolutely no explanation as to how and why'. With Scully and Lone Gunmmen and a few imaginative writers we could maybe have a few in depth plots that explore interesting ideas. Maybe the general public isn't tready for that.
