Yes, I agree with you on that. The problem is, what party? The reform party was starting to look good until Perot killed it (cause he couldn't control it anymore). Libertarians have good ideas, but way too many 'far out' members themselves (Mind you I'm in that party, and some of its members distress me). The Green party is nothing but the old red party with a new name... etc.
So in short, Who? and then How? I'm hoping what will happen is what happened the last time a national party died, and that is another one will take its place. I don't think we will ever be a one party country, but I am not looking forward to the transition period if the democratic party doesn't get its act together and does die.
I know a lot of people who are dumping IE and going to firefox, Opera, etc. (I've even done it myself finally). I know a lot of businesses doing it too.
why? Because of all the security problems with IE and MicroSoft's decision to not fix most of them, or to fix them in such a manner as to eat up so much of your computer's power.
Businesses are also starting to move away from IE. While the jury is still out (no pun intended) it's starting to look like MicroSoft may have finally jumped the shark on IE.
Exactly! That's why I think you have to be either very partisan or very ignorant to vote for Kerry. He blows with the wind, is a follower not a leader, and can't make up his mind. He has no clear vision. For the life of me I cannot see how he got the nomination, nor can I understand why anyone would vote for him.
He's litterally killing the Democratic party. The fringe groups have sadly taken that party over. And I think that hurts all of us by not giving us a viable candidate. I could never vote for someone who I have no clue at all where they stand.
The court is already pretty far from conservative. Only two maybe three judges on it can be called that, most are fairly liberal. If you don't beleive me, look at all the rulings by the court in the last 6 years.
And a conservative court is one that would be more inclined to rule on the constitution, not current interpretations, in which case the Patriot act would go down pretty quickly. But as we saw with the upholding of McCain-Fiengold, which limits free speech, this court isn't our friend.
I am not making any judgements that it is either right or wrong. I am just curious as to why socialists and communists feel the need to hide and mislead about their agenda's. The Green party stands for Socialism, not Environmentalism. It's run by completely Socialists.
Why are they hiding? Why aren't they proud of who they are and what they believe? Why are they misleading us with this name change?
Why are so many of the people in your party, and so many of the party officials, former members of the socialist and communist parties of America? Isn't the 'Green party' in fact just the old 'Red party' with a new name and all the same old faces?
This is not a troll, this is a serious question based on what I've seen of the Green Party in my state.
I use the driver solely because on the my computer window I now have an option to open the jukebox. It opens it as a file system, but if I go to the music directory, it then opens a custom window for doing stuff with the files (And is drag and drop, real easy to use). If I go to the data side, it just acts like a hard drive.
Get a Creative Jukebox Zen Xtra (30gigs, $199 at frys). Bigger (more gigs) than an Ipod, better sound quality, and about half the price. The only thing the Ipod has is a slightly better interface (slightly) and is a status symbol. The Creative has a nice browser feature once you install the drivers on your computer too. I've been very happy with mine.
Those regulations aren't always so stupid. Sometimes there are things involved that actually do make the 'hammer' that expensive.
Example: I used to work for Grumman Aerospace. The Navy wanted a coffee machine for the E2C so the crew could drink coffee (these planes can be up there for a very loooong time). So Grumman designed one and told them 10K per coffee pot. Well some idiot on capitol hill screamed and went on about how coffee pots only cost 20 bucks at the store. And the public, not knowing anything, believed this moron.
So, Grumman didn't supply coffee pots and the Navy had to buy from the same place the airlines do, where it costs over 12K for a coffee pot. Because water doesn't boil well at over 10,000 feet so coffee pots have to be pressurized. And able to withstand all sorts of other issue, while not causing anything that could destroy the plane (like exploding), or interfere with it's operation (And cause it to crash or get shot down).
So if a 20 dollar store hammer would have worked, I'm sure they would have gotten one. But you can't use a regular hammer in some places. You think they wanted to spend 800 bucks in an era where people are always looking for an excuse to cut spending? Hardly.
That there is no real fact checking or oversight of the correctness of any entries. Just because a lot of people believe something, it doesn't mean it's true or correct.
So given all of that, other than for humor potential, why would anyone use it? The information there is always suspect at best.
Wish I had know you had tried to restart HNN. I read that for years (and contributed on a semi regular basis). HNN was far superior to/. at least IMHO.
I miss it.

I may be wrong on this, because the law has changed several times due to challenges in the Supreme Court, etc. However I do believe that a Cop who pulls you over for any 'valid' reason, can search you and your car. I don't think it's right, but I do believe that is currently the law.
If you can show otherwise, please do, I really would like to see it. I'd love to be wrong on this one.

One of the hard truths I've learned over the years is that if you work more then 40 hours a week (on average, occasional OT is fine), you accomplish LESS then if you had worked say 35.
People who regularly work long days and weekends aren't working harder than the guys working regular hours, they're usually working poorly, or are just plan incompetant.
The fact is most of us really only do about 4 to 6 hours of work in a day, and unless you let yourself get put in a job that should be done by two people, you should be able to get your work done in that amount of time.
The problems arise from bad work habits, too many pointless meetings, and phone meetings (which are almost always worthless).
As a professional with 20 years in technology under my belt I almost NEVER work OT anymore. I could care less about 'Face time' and 30 to 35 hours a week is often all I will come into the office for. And I still outperform most 50 to 60 hour guys. Managers who are more concerned with hours than production should be fired, along with people who plan so poorly that all hell always breaks loose at the end of the production cycle.
Having actually worked in jobs that meant the life or death of people, I find it hard to get terribly excited or worried about 'end of the world' claims and other excess hype from upper managers when some little widget breaks. Running around like your head is on fire never solves anything.
When I manage I compt time all my workers, sometimes telling them to stay out of the office for a few days and go have some fun. Oddly enough my groups always get more work done, are more relaxed and happier, then those groups led by those 'hard working' managers who never go home.
You guys were blocking intersections, and there are a lot of people in town taking advantage of that who in the past have committed crimes. What did you expect to happen?
You weren't arrested for political reasons, you can claim you were all you want, but you're still wrong. You were arrested because of concerns for public safety. And personally I feel that anyone engaging in organized blocking of traffic in the City deserves a night in jail.
BTW, I used to drive an Ambulance there and my brother was a Fireman. People like you gave us headaches you can't begin to understand.
The people posting the information (Hotel rooms, cell phone numbers, scehdules) were posting it to intimidate and were promoting violent acts.
That is not protected speech, under any stretch of imagination.
Also considering the left's tendency towards violence (when was the last time you saw Republicans and Conservatives assualting people?) It's a pretty fair assumption that these people are up to no good.
Really, lets not have any of them. We all know which way the guys who run this site lean and if we start getting into Political posts pretty soon this site will look like another 527 site.
So how about we just stick to technology and NOT have anything related to the convention or the election?
I'd really like to have one site free of all the politicing.
Known authors have gone through the filter of a publisher. They won't print you (usually) if your writing is terrible, or your story sucks, or there are other major problems. But in print on demand, which is often self publishing (or vanity press), you don't get any of that.
As a published (short story) author trying to break into the mainstream I have read A LOT of crappy on demand and self published books. I have had stories rejected that friends thought were fine, but when I looked at the editor's notes I realized that they were right and I could do a better job. So I did.
But in print on demand there is none of that 'filtering effect', because they don't lose any money if your story sucks. I've read quite a few story's in the print on demand and ebook world by 'up and coming' writers who will never go anywhere because their skills just aren't good enough, and without an editor to push them and make them truely good writers, they never will be.
There is a lot more to writing than simply putting words on paper. And considering it's the worst paid profession in the arts, it is not surprising that few people really stick with it to become good at it. Entry level NOC Gnomes make more than most successful writers.
The problem with print on demand is it's 20 to 30 -Dollars- for a book, when I can go down to the book store, get something by a -known- author, who has a reputation for being -good- for less than 6 dollars.
Now if the print on demand books were half as much as the ones in the book store, I'd look at them. Until then, print on demand will just be a pipe dream.

There hasn't been a good NOVA series on in a while, especially not on Cosmology. I have my hopes up for this one...
If you don't know who Bush is, you haven't been paying attention.
And after 20 years in the Senate, the same goes for Kerry.
I see no reason for these debates at all, both men have records that make it pretty clear where they stand.

Facts are NOT subjective. That's why they are FACTS.
That has to be the stupidest thing anyone has ever said. Let me guess, you're a liberal, right?
I hope you get to fly on a plane someday where it was built using 'subjective' facts. Then you can be 'subjectively' spread accross the countryside.
