First of all its India. Your right though, it is the second largest film production region in terms of quantity, but your assuming that they are all written in the same dialect of hindi.
Half of my coworkers from my previous employer are Indian(eleven to be exact), all but one of which were born in India. Two of them didn't speak hindi at all, even though they were both born there. Of the remaining nine, only two of them could understand all of them, the rest could either have one of those two translate for them or they could speak english. They chose to always speak english, because of that reason.
What people don't realize is that India and China are monstrous countries where the different regions are almost completely different civilizations with different beliefs, cultures, and language.
"As soon as we reported the issue to Sun, the affected processors were replaced under service contract," he said. The company
was able to resolve the problem by rearranging "our data center with the express purpose of lowering system temperatures," he
said. "The systems run 10 to 15 degrees Fahrenheit cooler than before, and we haven't seen a problem since."
It makes you wonder how hot he was running these things.
Anyway, the NDA's thing was pretty stupid. Talk about pissing off your customers. Had we experienced a problem with our Sun servers and they asked me to sign one, I think I probably would have told them to fsck off, fix it or I buy (insert Sun competitor name here).
I guess if there is a silver lining to this farce, this is it. Of course, sometimes the silver lining is actually a 727 in a free fall. A lot of people could get hurt before the dust settles on this one.
What I really want to know is if a frontal lobotomy (sp?) is required before you can get a job at the patent office?
It's not Linux's fault he's an induhvidual.
Sometimes I don't know what is worse, people who fear being outcasts or people who fear being labelled as conformists.
Frankly, I use Red Hat, because its what I like and I don't give a damn what people think. Now if only more people would do the same we could put an end to the "OS Holy Wars" once and for all.
I think its pretty silly looking myself, but if one should land on my desk, I'd just install Yellow Dog and revel in the glow of a kick ass OS on some kick ass hardware.
Linux _will_catch up, because SGI is now pushing it themselves. I don't know if they plan to phase out Irix all together or if they might just maintain it for the servers
Three Tux's for the Elven Kings under the sky.

One Tux to rule them all, One Tux to find them,
One Tux to bring them all and in the cluster bind them.
In the Land of New Zealand where the shadows lie.
This isn't a bad idea, but I would recommend that the letter demand a _PUBLIC_ apology.
Also, I don't want to speak for anyone, but it would be really nice to get the signatures of some of the leaders in the open source's ".com arena". I find it sad, but I imagine if they got a list with 10,000 or even 50,000 names of individuals they wouldn't give a damn. However, I think signatures from people in high places at VA Linux, SGI, Penguin Computing, companies that supply Hollywood with high powered Linux machines for post-production might cause them to think about the fact that they have damaged business relations with some of their key suppliers. Official stances from the Distro houses and other companies offering Open Source software and/or services would certainly help the cause as well.
Hollywood needs to get the message that napster is not what Open Source is all about. DeCSS is but, they apparently can't fathom the real reason why. Maybe if some one _enlightened_ them that they rely on open source software, havkers and companies to make their prescious movies, then they might start to listen. At least I hope so.
I have never doubted the existence of ADD, in fact I've known a few poster children.
Growing up, one of my closest friends was insanely hyper, but thats all he was. He could focus like you wouldn't believe, he was just running on a permanent sugar high. Unfortunately, his mommy and daddy couldn't deal with his energy level. Next thing you know he's taking Ritalin, and suddenly he's a complete dud. No sense of humor, no excitement, he wasn't a kid anymore, he was a little adult at the age of 13. But boy were his parents happy. The problem is the rampant misdiagnosis and abuse by parents looking for more manageable children without all that icky parenting stuff.
This is too funny! Besides, if you peruse the incident reports on Security Focus or 2600 it would appear that most if not all the boxes are running NT.
So far, mine has been rock solid. The only problem I have encountered has been the occasional window sizing problem, which I think lies within Sawfish, but even that is rare and unreproduceable (yes it is a made up word.).
Compared to GNOME 1.0, this baby is more stable than my calculator.
but a name change and even a new logo is healthy every now and then
Sounds familiar. Was it Lenin that said "A little revolution now and then is a good thing."
Maybe Corel should try the same tactic.
Uhhh. In case you haven't noticed Slashdot has a relatively large international contingent.
Seriously though, I've seen all viewpoints expressed here. Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Socialist, Communist, Green Party, and don't forget the indifferent.
I like to call myself an individual, because I like to listen to them all and form my own opinions.
Oh joy, yet another US-centric article griping about imagined flaws in the American legal system.
Did it ever occur to you that Slashdot is based in the US and is obviously going to be a little slanted in that direction? This is news that is happening in our "backyard", its important to us.
When I see an article about things going on in France or England or anywhere else in the world, I look at it as an opportunity to learn a little about the problems facing the people and the country. I don't make an annoying post about how much coverage that country has been getting lately.
Furthermore did it ever occur to you that all legal systems are flawed and that only through critical discussion can those flaws be found. Its much more productive to discuss the problem then to whine about it.
Price fixing is normal in other countries, and, believe it or not, none of them have been taken over by massiv evil corporationsy et.
Well now that's settled we'd might as well start homogenizing the world. What's good for one country must be good for everyone.
Come on! There are a lot of things in this world that are completely normal in one country, but are completely alien to others. Some of us call it culture, and some of us even respect other people's culture.
Whether or not Price Fixing is normal in Japan is irrelevant. In the US its illegal, and as long as its illegal we as citizens and consumers have a right to ask that the law be upheld. We aren't always listened too, but it certainly is nice when we are.
For example, many sectors of Japan's economy are controlled by huge monopolies (yes, including the record companies), and people the world over look up to Japan's amazing economic success.
Some people look up to Microsoft too. Some people thought what Adolf Hitler did with Germany in the Pre-World War II days was something to look up to. He even got Time's "Man of the Year". You know what though? The end doesn't justify the means.
It's only when the government tried to deregulate the economy that it crashed.
Isn't oversimplification grand. I suppose that the Boston Tea Party was the only cause of the American Revolution. That the invasion of Poland was the only reason World War II got under way.
Price fixing is not the end of the world.
No it isn't, but it is illegal.
Sure, it might mean higher prices for consumers,
Which is precisely why it is illegal.
but it doesn't mean that there's some huge illuminati-like conspiracy out there trying to "get" consumers.
Damn, did I walk into a Katz article by mistake..
So you have to pay more for a crappy CD. Who cares? Price fixing happens -- get over it!
Another brilliant statement.
Cop: "I'm sorry Mrs. Smith, but murder happens, you'll just have to find another husband and get over it."

Its www.detechnologies.com.
Don't forget BT trying to patent hyperlinks
Go to www.detechnologies.com and prepare to read the biggest load of crap you've ever seen except maybe for the MS Kerberos extensions NDA.
Too funny! I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to pay me $19.95US for the use of humor in this post. Yeah, that's right I patented it, now pay up.

You have translucent plastic furniture in your living room? Sorry, I couldn't resist :)
Thanks for the Link. I heard about "rolling you own" before, but never went out of my way to give it a glance. I just might have to give this a shot.

Sorry, about the rant.
Kind of a like a glass a wine a day, is supposedly good for the heart?
I've got admit though. I think I'd rather have my kid on gaming then Ritalin.
