I still use Firefox. While Chrome is nice and fast on my laptop (which isn't being used lately), my desktop has lots of power so I don't notice it and it has addons that I couldn't find on Chrome last time I checked (like a month ago). Addons like YouTube video downloads (amoungst the rare other). So while certain addons are missing on Chrome, I'll keep using Firefox.

Does make one wonder how the artists can see their membership money being pissed away like that and think it's a positive

Easy to see it as a positive. It won't be veiwed as 'legal fee's', it'll be viewed as 'public awareness fee's', part of the campaign to 'show the public the evil's of illegal file sharing'. They will declare it was never for the money, just the message that it's illegal and wrong and if you continue to share music illegally then you will be punished.

Granted, that message will be lost on Joe Public. But thats life.

I remember when Nintendo tightly controlled their games on the original NES. Ever wonder why none of the games didn't have the NES stamp of approval? The didn't approve any games they didn't like even if they were compatible.

Sorry, but thats wrong. The Nintendo Stamp of Approval was to help fight against/prevent another North American video game crash of 1983. The Atari and its lack of control of which games could be published/played caused havok on the video game market which in turn, made many stores not want to carry video games anymore. This is why when you look at video game console history that there are quite a few different consoles (even ignoring the cosmetically different ones) up until 1982. In 1983 the crash happened and nothing until 1985 when Nintendo released the NES in North America. Its success of course jump started the console market again causing systems to be made a year later to compete with the NES.

As for saving call support time, not many people call support. And I'm not sure if Cataclysm would have those authenticators for free considering not every copy of Cataclysm sold will be a boxed copy (they are available digitally). Granted the digital authenticator is now free on my Android market place and seems to be free for other things so who knows? They may make the authenticator mandatory. Time will tell.

Avoiding the moral issues involved here, it could show quite a few things. Roid rage is a well known concept but, to my knowledge, has never been tested to see what level is the 'breaking' point of violence and rage, but due to 'roid rage' we know that once the body reaches 'X' level of testosterone violent behavior will occur (due to 'roid rage' we know it heavily depends on testosterone). In a study like this you could 'see' just at what point does testosterone reach when violence occurs and possibly what other bodily chemicals spike during these 'rage' episodes. Taking this knowledge of what introduces 'rage', you can start working on chemical 'blockers' that will temporarily block the body from either producing or accepting these bodily chemicals. Make them into a gas/other substance and you (in theory as long as overdose isn't reached easily) can have a much 'safer' stun-gun then the current taser's on the market (that can introduce a heart attack in people with a weak heart) that also could have other 'peace keeping' opinions (consider their use in bar brawls, ect...). And since it doesn't knock you out like a tranquilizer, it would help disperse a crowd more effectively (instead of making the problem worse when everyone woke up).

They are animals, provoked enough and the Fight or Flight response will kick in. With no where to turn in a small box though, a fight is most likely to happen. Also, mice are territorial animals. To quote this link:

Mouse Behaviour In Captivity:... Mice in the wild are very territorial.... Although male mice will behave sociable towards female mice, they can be unsociable towards other male mice where territory is concerned. Like a majority of male animals, the male mouse will protect his territory and guard it well, chasing off any other male mouse intruders. ... Male mice show their natural territorial behaviour also in captivity. It is not wise to keep males together.

This might also explain why they used male mice.

I mean, surely if cockfighting or dogfighting is illegal...

I don't think so. Its more that the laws involved in making cockfighting and dogfighting are illegal is because it names the animals in particular. And since those laws don't say anything about mice then the law can't touch it. In fact, according to a Google and Wikipedia cockfighting has only been illegal in every state since 2007. This might be considered inhumane to allow it to happen but considering what other 'uses' lab rats have, I don't think this was much of a legal stretch. In the end, is this moral? I don't think so. Is it legal? All signs point to yes.
