If you watched the Atmosphere and I|O events, the developer machines were split about 60/40 over Mac and Ubuntu. I didn't see Windows in either event's demonstrations.

The amount of Macs over Ubuntu's might be changing though. Remember, Apple and Google have in the past worked very close as partners in a lot of projects (YouTube's h.264 overhaul was done in time to be iPhone ready for when the iPhone launched, amoungst other possible codec/computer language standards. And Eric Schmidt had for 3 years been on the Apple board). Thing is now, Apple has been less and less happy with Google and both companies have been slowly distancing themselves from each other since Google started to overlap Apple in fields like smartphones with Googles Android (which compete's against Apple's iPhone) and Google ChromeOS (which will compete against OSX).

Just after a set number of years nobody seems to have done much on the Mac in the wild. Why?

Because virus/malware writers do it for attention, to show what they can do. When faced with this situation you look at it and go "Do I aim for the Mac/Linux which will effect less then 1 out of every 10 computer users which will have little notice? Or do I aim for Windows that will effect 9 out of every 10 computer users?" If you want attention, you aim for the 9 out of every 10 users. Pwn2Own keeps showing that Macs aren't secure. The hackers don't aim for the Macs to win it since the $10,000 price money would buy a top of the line Mac where the one used isn't the top of the line model, the aim for the Mac because it's the easy target.

Sorry if this is trollish, but Macs are IMO a WORSE security risk than Windows when dealing with spearphishing and other forms of targeted attacks. Security updates are rare. Even if the OS model is better than Microsoft's, it's not a good choice.

    Macs are security risks.

Until then, I don't think that Google's going to be able to migrate it's most vital employees (engineers) to "eat their own dogfood." Might be interesting to migrate support staff, but that's not where the heart of Google is.

Well.... since ChromeOS is built on Ubuntu I'll bet that anything that runs on Ubuntu should run on ChromeOS.

No, because my vote is in the long run, just a drop in the bucket and doesn't hold any future sway to what actions the elected representative takes while in office. It would be the elected representatives fault though. And in this case, Apple is very capable of taking their business elsewhere, meaning they hold all the power in this deal and hold a LOT of options that can very well control what this business does. If the company is preforming actions that Apple felt was wrong then they take their money elsewhere, not turn away and hope things just get better.

Isn't the suicide rate for FoxConn employees somewhat less than the population of China as a whole?

Getting a job at FoxConn would actually reduce your tendency to commit suicide.

Depends really. What ages are FoxConn employees? From what I know of suicide cases, most are done by either late teens/retiring aged workers, both whom have the most gloomy outlooks on life (the teen by no longer having mom and dad and seeing them having worked all their life and got no where leaving the image of the future is hopeless, the elderly for having no more job options and minimal retirement funds). Now if FoxConn doesn't employee these ages then that could very well make their rate of suicides higher since most of the suicide 'population' isn't part of FoxConn's payroll.

Apple won't do this, it would hurt their brand image. Part of Apples brand image is in the price, aka 'you get what you pay for' theme. The price is higher to give the idea that your paying for a higher-then-normal quality item (even though thats questionable). Its like many other brand items, like Calvin Klein jeans (made in china with other lower brand jeans), many perfumes are sold at a high price to seem more exclusive, drug companies do this even though generic brands will be identical just lower prices, even brand name food items at the grocery store do this (they typically add a more salt so they 'taste better' and seem like they must be better foods)

Issue is, doesn't matter what computer you use, they can all have problems and do have problems. Claiming it 'just works' is a wrong answer born from marketing. Why not try putting your 'supertasting' idea to a real test (and not the bad one listed on Wikipedia of drinking tonic water. Because its a stout beer which is a thick beer (and the easiest to find). Its so thick in fact, that it can't be carbonated. The bubbles in a stout are nitrogen so if I'm right, you'll have no problems drinking a it. If I'm wrong then you more likely are a supertaster. But my money is on your just un-able to drink carbonation (which is why you have no food issues, but issues with beer and pop).
