Except that on xp, you don't need that much ram. I had XP with 512MB 3d card, and I NEVER had problems with computer having to swap in spite of running memory devouring firefox among several other things on the background (I had slightly under 3.5GB of RAM mapped on that system out of total 4 installed - it also had things like a discrete sound card requiring small amounts of RAM iirc).
It's true that 32-bit limitation is the main limit of XP. However as it stands now, no game on the market will require more then 2GB on XP (as far as I know), allowing you to shove anything up to 2GB VRAM into your machine if you feel the need to show off your epeen. Another gig will make sure you will never have slowdowns alt-tabbing.
Not so with 7, and 32-bit version of 7 is just a cripple of worse caliber then 64-bit XP. Hell, I'm on a 3-month old 64-bit 7 now, and there isn't a day when I don't bemoan the just how obviously slower this system is in spite of having vastly superior specs all around in everything but gaming performance (due to having 3 generations better video card and CPU). But in desktop usage, it's like I traded in for a worse system.
Sounds like a very DUMB show to me. If I needed to collect DNA, all I would have to do would be to have you touch a surface to get a few skin flakes. Say, sensor/sample collector on railings of very slippery stairs, door handles, etc.

As a result, if we change to old "alpha male with a harem and many males without a mate" structure that is far more natural to us as species on a purely biological level, we would tear ourselves apart in just a few generations due to availability of powerful weaponry to those who cannot satisfy their most basic needs.
In this regard, adjusting birth rate to 1:4 male:female or so would not result in a catastrophic sociological failure of species, as we have had such societies in our history (when a group of unfulfilled males could not cause significant destruction), and to an extent we still do - many of the richer males of our species still hold harems even when they profess to be deeply religious in monogamous religion. We call member of such harem by different names, such as "mistress", "secretary" or similar, but the purpose has remained the same - providing a harem, a source of many different females to mate with to an alpha male.
It's notable that this doesn't serve only men, but many women also actively strive to be in a "mistress" position. This is likely also because of biological programming having aligned itself towards "better share one male who can provide for all females then get one male who can't provide even for me" - mating strategy.
So to conclude, this wouldn't necessitate abandonment of monogamous sexual relationship, because by large, such thing is an exception outside a small minority. It would necessitate abandonment of PERCEPTION that we have monogamous relationship as a norm however.
No offence, but this is slashdot. Complaining about general or specific parts of interface's usability is one thing. "Not being able to use it" is something that a grandmother who never saw anything but a rotary dialler could realistically say.
If a slashdot visitor can't figure out a mainstream phone manufacturer's interface enough to use it, it's time to reconsider sites you visit. Or at least telling everyone on the sites you visit just how helpless you are at things that site talks about. Or just quit with utterly daft hyperboles.

This is a well studied area, and it's widely known and proven that younger boys tend to bully physically. Girls mainly bully by excluding from groups. The bullying factor in this type results in a much deeper trauma then physical assault, and often leaves significant mental issues for life. This is because humans are social and biologically tribal creatures which is especially true for young women who form small groups and punishing through exile from their group.
You don't have to go far to see how this works. Every young girl will have her "circle of friends" who will on the surface have same tastes, same desires. In reality many of them are just conforming to peer pressure, but fear of exile from the group for being different is a very strong driving factor.

Thing is, both Vista and 7 ARE memory hogs. Best example is to look at one of the most hardware-demanding software out there: GAMES.
System requirements nowadays are typically "X GB RAM for XP, X+1GB RAM for Vista/7".
So you can tout "superior memory management" all you want, reality is that when that memory is actually needed, XP is superior.
