This is why I like my countrys (Sweden) no-guns law. A gun can be for protection, agreed, but dammit, if the "bad" guy has a gun TOO, what damn use is it?
Personally, I'd much rather get into a fist-fight, than a gun fight, even if my gun is a Desert Eagle - my chance of surviving is greater in the fistfight.
Of course, for gun prohibition to work, one needs to strictly enforce it, otherwise the "bad" guys can get it anyway.
Oh, I forgot to mention - if we could connect the probe to the future e-homes, it could automatically download the amount of poo in your rectum and upload the information to your e-toilet. Then the e-flushing mechanism automatically e-adapts to your e-shit, and uses just enough water to flush down your fecals.
I am in now way affiliated with e-shit.com, by the way.
Well, even though his has been posted many times, I cant see any hurt in porting it again, to remind everyone.
1. First - get a domain
2. Second, get hosting company that offers a default-mail-redirect. (i.e. If someone mails a message to jsahjfhjdkdsueue@yourdomain.com the server automatically forwards it to you@yourdomain.com
3. Now, when you enter you email-addy in a signup form somewhere, enter the name of the company as your adress (i.e. amazon@yourdomain.com, yahoo@yourdomain.com)
4. Now, everytime someone sends you spam, you can simply block them in your E-mail filter PLUS that your see what comany has been flithy enough to sell your adress!
Ah, yes, Sweden - wonderful place. Socialism rocks - damn I was happy when the government pumped 1$ billion (approx) into a broadband-for-all-project. Woohoo!
Also, guns are forbidden here in Sweden. It may not be freedom, but the death rate here in sweden is really low, and that makes me think it's a decent tradeoff. Guns don't kill people - it just makes it really easy.
But on the other hand, I sense that Sweden is being corrupted by American 'culture' (i.e. Britney Spears, Oprah, and McDonalds)
"Last vastion of sanity" - I liked that.
Thumb drive would be a very good idea, if it weren't for the fact that Satan himself set the pric - but on the other hand, they'll probably last for several generations of students, and they dont require a reader.
You know, EmperorLinux already offers one of these - pre-installed with linux and drivers for EVERYTHING on it. I'd buy one if I had the bucks.

Well, here in Sweden - everyone and their mother has a computer. Fine ones too - you see, a few years back, the Swedish government cut taxes on all computers bought through the company you were hired at, and made the cost a small monthly pay cut. Bottom line, computers got VERY cheap, and "everyone" bought one. Now, broadband is coming very fast - the government put of about 1.2 BILLION $ to make sure everyone have access to broadband in 2001. That instantly turned me into a socialist. GPRS is coming any day now, here in Sweden too, BTW.
We europe guys CAN click with the mouse, you know - and Linux WAS invented by a finnish guy.
Hey - owners of the Picturebook - I have a question! How good is the quality of the camera?
For instance, our teachers LOVE to give us lots and lots of papers, which I hate more than Pokemon itself. Would it be possible to take a picture of them and still be able to read them on the screen? Would it even be possible for OmniPage 10 to slurp them?
Personally, I would LOVE a palm Vxc with one of Ericssons nifty wireless bluetooth headsets. That would effectively eliminate the need for a traditional mobile phone. The star trek factor is higher than anything else, too. Just clip the little headset thing to your collar, and whenever you Palm vibrates in your pocket, you put the headset to you ear, and say: 'answer call'.
Woohoo! Can anyone supply a link to a picture of those? They are very, very cool.
...Hum - A few days ago, there was news about the Crusoe Vaio, which has 5.5 hours of battery time, according to the article. The iBook has 6 hours of battery time. Does this not mean that Transmeta was hype after all?
I would LOVE to pay even a dollar extra per CD-R or a couple of bucks on my ISP connection, assuming that the money went to the ARTISTs THEMSELVES, instead of to record company bastards which use the money to promote the Britney Spears plague. Napster and similiar is hopefully here to put an end to capitalism of art. Capitalism was fine once, but now the corrumption of it has gone too far. Music to ALL! Give the money to the ARTISTS!
I for one, would be VERY interested in how big percentage of the entered members are activated. I am just one of the multitude of people who did not get anything in the snailmail. Very strange, indeed. There are two options that may cause this:
1. They use the worst kind of mail service ever.
OR...
2. The ICANN are slective on which members they send activation mail to.
To be picky, Ericsson is not Swedish anymore. Not much, anyway. They fired lots of people and moved out of Sweden. Ericsson = Big, evil company.
Their phones are cool though, if they could just lose that darned ugly antennas.
Ah, I sense that you do not have experience in the rechargeable Palms, Ashpool.
First of all, it does not take 'a couple of hours' to recharge the palm. In fact, i would rather say about 5 minutes. And frankly, my battery has NEVER gone under 60%, since the Palm recharges in the cradle... The litium-ion recharging extremely fast.
You know, the States are annoying... Fahrenheit vs. Celsius, Pm/Am vs. 24 hour cycle, CDMA vs. GSM...
However, there IS a version from Nokia that can do world... 8290 I think it is called... Geek.com reviewed it a few weeks ago... Also, the 8890 supports world, too.
Yeah, I know... Here in Sweden practically everyone has a mobile phone (Oh, almost all of my friends do) Mobile phones are as ordinary as plastic bags are in USA... hahahahaa
Ah, I like Sweden... This is due to the fact that the Swedish government is using about 1$ billion dollars to make sure that everyone in Sweden has broadband in 2002. Even us poor bastards that live on the country.:)
Muahahah... Will work for bandwidth.
...... Fred Durst at McDonalds... My god. You are right! I never looked at it that way! Hey - How much money does Britney Spears make? I dunno - but it is a LOT. I admit that she is not bad at all, but PLEASE, her success is NOT due to talent or art, its due to capitalism and propaganda. A guy i know at my school makes considerably better songs than Britney, but he does not have a good agent. And therefore he is not offered multiple millions to have sex.

Also check out webbrain.com - that uses the ODP database.

You know, the .nu domain (Niue) means "now" in Swedish. now=nu
"knulla" means "fuck"
Now imagine how cool it is to own "knulla.nu"

It might not be perfect, but it's damn good.
Hah - they did the same thing here in Sweden, just that is's 2001 instead of 2004! :)

I suggest that you just force everyone to use xdrive.com or a similiar service.

Acctually, I think Dogbert already invented this once. "You better click something, or I'll have to send you some books."

Having the same problem. Slashdotted? Hehehe.

Yup - same thing is happening to my celeron 400 now. Errors errors errors... Bad...Luckily, i have just aquired a CeleronII 600 to replace it with.
