    It was also a time where you didn't have to worry about someone copying 'Hamlet' and passing it off as his own work.

    Considering there's controversy over whether or not Shakespeare wrote those plays or if it was someone else that was the real author(Bacon, IIRC), things haven't changed.

    Perpetual copyright is bad, agreed. But it has absolutely NOTHING to do with the topic at hand

    If Rockstar exists, and doesn't want people to port GTA III to the new platforms since it will interfere with the sales of GTA XXII and the PS VII won't run GTA III, yes, it does have to do with the topic at hand.

    #include <string> ? Radical, I know, but you have to put strings that contain their length and can contain nul somewhere!

    Another driver can detect that driver. Look at the chains of device objects, do its own direct IO to look for hidden file. If the hardware itself is lying because the chip is virtualized, all bets are off.

    Both HD-DVD and Blu-ray incorporate managed copy, which lets you copy your movies to your harddrive

    Implication from TFA is that there may have been confiscation

    I wrote back, politely explaining the principles of copyleft - that the software was free, both as in speech and as in price, and that people copying and redistributing it was a feature, not a bug. I said that selling verbatim copies of Firefox on physical media was absolutely fine with us, and we would like her to return any confiscated CDs and allow us to continue with our plan for world domination (or words to that effect).

    Better integration with the keychain and mail, as well as a native appearance. Me, I use Firefox.

    There's also Camino if you want something that looks native. It's gecko based, but doesn't have the extendibility.

    That's less than 3/4 of a cable bill
    20% cheaper than broadband
    Half the cost of our (family) phone service
    Less than half the price of my health plan
    Cheaper than a drink at starbucks (they have stuff less than $2?)

    It's also cheaper than a night out a week at the movies

    Unless Disney is first against the wall when the revolution comes, along with Sirius Cybernetics, I could live as long as Methuselah and won't see stuff leave copyright.

    And most of these DRM solutions do not have expirations coded in.

    Scoring more points is a good way to win the Superbowl. Scoring more points is a crappy way to win the Masters.

    It just needs to average out. Anyone I know that would buy a launch console would have trouble limiting themselves to a game every other week, never mind every other month.

    And except for the rare hardcore gamer, how many people buy 30 games for a machine in one generation ?

    Let's see...

    Current gen lasted 5 years, that's 6 games per year, or a on average, a game every other month. How is that "hardcore"?
