Server is still infected with a IIS virus (though not Code Red). Here it is
I sent them an email - almost a year ago in fact. They just brushed me off and gave a rather pathetic excuse ("the box is too slow to run Norton"). You can read the e-mail here.
Of course, these are the same people who run a trouble ticket server on the district wide WAN that any old joe at school can access and see where the security issues are.
Sports are great. H.S. gym has always been lame. Video games just add to the lameness. My opinion is if you participate in a sport, you should't be required to take gym class at all. Oh well.
For whatever reason, in our school, we can take Electronics and get PE credit, which is of course, what I will be doing.
That was always my biggest problem with the AP system in general, though overall I think it's REALLY a good thing.
Well, the problem with this is that you have some person giving a hopefully fair analysis. If you get marked off for something that should be right, or get knocked off a few points because they didn't like the way you did something, that is not fair at all.
When I took the AP computer science test in high school we had to code on paper! I'm just like you...I get my vibe when I am in front of the computer coding, not with a pencil and paper.
Well, I will be taking AP Computer Scince next year. I have seen copies of the test, it seemed pretty resonable, IMHO. How did they grade your exam? Did they give you oppritunity to contest the grade if you felt it was graded incorrectly?
In a K12 institution, a "whitelist" approach to Internet access is perfectly appropriate. The opposite of a blacklist, what you do with this approach is say, "We don't have Internet access. We have access to these specific Internet features."
You will quickly find angry parents and teachers approaching the school board rightfully complaining that student's can't access valid educational websites to to research, etc. using the school's taxpayer funded internet connection.
.. to build am EM gun to knock these things out from a safe distance. The gun would have to fire a narrow enough beam to not kill the electronics in any passing cars/busses, and have sufficient range to aviod potential monitoring devices.
How about a.223 rifle/w scope? Beats shooting a paper target for hours at the shooting range.
IANAL, but think its high time that all the small business and other corps. that have suffered real losses due to BSA's gestapo style raids when there was no actual piracy going on.
well the day i am forced to give in to a digital HDTV signal because no more broadcasts are made on analog, or no more analog tvs are to be found, is the day I throw out my old tv and build my library of classical liturature.
Purcahse the $200 HDTV -> Analog converter. A bit pricey, but cheap compared to an HDTV set.
So, does anyone think I would get any performance improvement if I compiled this in to my kernel on my file/web/ssh/blah server? I dont want to lose my precious uptime unless its really worth it.
So basically there is absolutely no privacy with this service. And their advertisers can "capture or control any information about your web surfing session".
Yea great service. Please mod the parent down.
Some people use web-proxy services to access websites that are BLOCKED by a coroprate or school firewall (as in my case). I could care lless if advert companies know what sites I am visiting. I do not use any sensitive information going through those services.
Slashdot has certainly influnenced my opinion of politics. I used to be interested in the Libertarians, but they have just ticked me off. Leagalizing drugs will make it only easier for crackheads to sell their drugs on our streets, and to children. Not to mention the date rape pills...
Libertarians also seem very anti-religious and intolerant of it. Why does everyone want to support the ACLU? The ACLU does not support freedom of religion. Why does the ACLU want to get rid of all references of the word God? They sued the state of Ohio because of mentioning God in the state motto, yet they don't sue the national treasury for printing "In God We Trust" (see signature).
Thank you slashdot, I know what party to register as when I am old enough to vote.
There has been some great VHF band openings for the past few days. I heard several people in Dallas (I'm in Houston) talking on 2 meters. I also heard some people in Indiana down on 6 meters. Cool stuff.
It's at times like this I'm glad I joined the ACLU. It, and other similar groups, have consistently defended us against encroachments on the First Amendment like the CDA and COPA and others, with varied success
I for one, do not care at all for the ACLU. The ACLU was the one wanting school prayer at that football game in Santa Fe, Texas banned. This shows that the ACLU does not care for the 1st admendment rights for EVERYONE. The ACLU only wants some people to have the rights to free speech.
The Wine team is certainly interested in adding CPU emulation at some point, but a lot of other things need to be cleaned up first. There's some promising early work going on now with using WineLib to compile Windows programs on SPARC Solaris, and that will only help future portability.
Why does the CPU emulator need to be a part of WINE? Couldn't something be fashioned similar to the x86 emulator for Alpha-Linux?
If challenged in the supreme court this would easily be deemd unlawful. This is a clear violation of an individuals right to privacy. Which the supreme court has set a precedence to uphold. The FBI could request information from the isp. But thats as far as their jurisdiction should go.
Do you really think the supreme court rule in favor of privacy? After all, this is the same supreme court that has already restricted our 1st admentment rights. In this goverment, the only way to have any sort of privacy is to use heavy encryption.
I can think of only one part of any modern Mac that is closed: the ROM chips for booting the computer. Yep. This is exactly how Apple pulled off the "No G4 Until we say so" stunt. I was quite close to buying a Mac for Linux purposes, until I heard about this. If I can't upgrade my machine as I please, I do not want it. Now I am buying an Alpha instead..
want to write to Mattel to explain this but I can't find any useful email address on their web site. Does anybody know such an email address? Try this: http://www.service.mattel.com/contac t_mail.asp

What's the fuss about Tulips? They're fast, stable, and light. Occassionaly, when I cannot find a Tulip, I try NE2000's, which just aren't quite the same.

The Compaq C/C++ compilers are avaliable for "free", though albeit not GPL (or "open source"). They seem to produce excellent and well optimized code.
John Cage himself has been silent on the issue.
The RIAA is investigating. Thank you for reporting this to us.

This is a problem I have at school. I have set up a CGI Proxy on my home server (on a broadband connection) and viola, no more blocked sites.
If you want to set your own up on your *nix or windows + apache box, download CGI Proxy from http://www.jmarshall.com/tools/cgiproxy/

I was looking in to doing the same thing with setting up a proxy from home to use at school..
alas... i do not know too much cgi, and found myself rather stuck..
If there are any faq's or resourses you can direct me to it would be greatly appreciated
I do not know of any FAQ's/guides, but e-mail me at above address, and I will be more than happy to assist you.

Noproxy still works. There is also a list of free services at antiproxy. I personlly run my own CGI Proxy on my home server while I am at school.

You're kidding here right? The USPS is a branch of the government, not a busness. It is not out to make a profit, nor does it.
Please tell me why I see all these USPS adverts on the television. Also tell me why they compare their services with UPS on TV too.
