Tee hee hee. Oh, yes, that is why I read slashdot.. the hu.. oh wait? WTF do I read slashdot? No real admins in the corporate world read it.. and wait, that is.. am I? Yes, I have 6434 servers before me. Let's see how many run GNU/Linux - 300 tops. Most of those are cyclades.
"Auxillary tools for a basic shell are arguably inconsequential and quite trivial to write."
While I disagree with you completely - Writing the best toolset ever written is something special - giving it away is even more special. There would be no GNU/Linux without GNU, but GNU tools would still be running everywhere on the planet on every *nix every built in place of those provided by Sun, IBM, HP etc..

I liken this trend to asocial nerds in high school who draw attention to themselves (post college) by purchasing fast speedy sports cars to supplant their emotional drain of having a small beenie weenie and beans."

GNU/Linux The people that can't give up the extra 4 characters to call it what it is, are basically whiners. If you won't do this one small thing that he asks for all that he and the other GNU developers have given you (the vast majority of the system software of any GNU/Linux OS), shame on you. It's the correct thing to do and it's easy.
I agree completely and was sad to learn this was an April Fools... thing. What has happened to you Linux geeks? All the time and effort spent on countless Linux distros... Open Source Barbie would be far from the least original or worst thing to happen to Linux. Perhaps the infamous GPL would make it all the way back to the base product eventually even freeing Barbie from her seemingly eternal state of commercial prostitution.
No one even thought to crack an Open Sores Barbie joke? (I couldn't resist.. sorry..)
If you really want affordable quality sound, buy a decent set of studio monitors instead of gimmicky consumer crap (bose would be in the gimmicky category). A very decent set of studio monitors can be had for around $500. Instead of shopping at Best Buy for your speakers shop online at music supply sites for monitors - some sites are: musiciansfriend.com, zzounds.com, music123.com.
Clarity is what counts in sound reproduction. You can always add more monitors later for 5.1 or 7.1 if you really feel the need. For you ipod junkies, your tunes will sound much better through a pair of powered Event monitors than it will ever sound through anything at Best Buy.
Kind of ironic that only users who legally aquire their copies have to go through the activation scheme.
Well that depends on what you think Microsoft is. Viewed as a private club their actions make perfect sense. Only the members have to go through the trouble of joining. You can sneak onto the course and play night golf, but if you get caught there may be consequences.
I don't agree with those consequences or even the registration at all...just pointing out the way I think about Microsoft.
You have the music preferences of a 13 year old girl. Most of us are not really being served by the market. Someday, when your preferences mature you will realize this.
90% of what I listen to is open source. I have a huge CD collection of commercial music but with few exceptions that music lacks real creativity, depth, or originality.
I will agree that some people use drugs due to emotional pain and many of those people wind up with more problems than they started with. Why? Because most of those people were emotional wrecks in the first place and emotional pain is generally a really bad reason to use drugs. In fact, emotion, is usually a poor reason to do anything. In my case, exploration and investigation were the reasons. Emotional pain was never a reason at all. My drug use was planned 5 years in advance. I spoke with hundreds of people during those years concerning their drug experience good and bad. I listened, read up, and planned. My experimentation lasted 5 years as planned and ended as planned. It was an excellent experience - all of it. You are fooling yourself if you think the sole reason for drug use is emotional pain. There are reasons to experiment with drugs that are valid. Having said that, you will probably just blow off MY reasons. That's fine. You will think about it and unless you are a complete rock you will eventually come to the conclusion that you were incorrect to broadly sum up every drug users reasons as the words - emotional pain.
That's not accurate at all. Many people use drugs for reasons other than to deal with emotional pain. Fun and exploration are the two considerable reasons must often NOT cited.

Have a good life shitbags.
Because those things have not been as nearly fundamental in it's development. Your newness shows.

[you have to know "the answer" before you do the simulation and then teach the model to reproduce that "answer"]
:)
Wait a minute... isn't that completely backwards for QM... shouldn't a QM simulation know the answer even before you ask the question?
Broken temperature gauge. :)
