If this is like netflix with downloads instead of DVD, it would rock. I already pay about $20 a month to netflix to get movies. If i get unlimited downloads with the same amount, i would gladly shell out the money and cancel my cable subscription at the same time. This has the potnetial to really hurt netflix AND blockbuster really hard. Combine this with some sort of mac mini home theater set up and you are all set.

i wonder if this is an announcemnet of a generic copy. Indians usually leave the Rnd to other companies then use that research to make generic copies of drugs. That way they do not need to invest money in developing the drug, just copying it. This allows them to charge much less for the drug and still make money because there were almost no costs in developing it. Sucks for the company that did the Rnd though.

you know I hate hearing europeans (EU) complain about this. The reason it takes so long is not only do you not use NTSC like the US and Japan, you dont even have a standard (PAL,SECAM etc). Then you dont even have a standard language. In Australia, US, Canada etc it is english. In Japan it is Japanese. In europe, it has to be translated into several languages. Even though England speaks english and there is a version of the game in english, it has to wait for a french translation. Who's fault is that? not tha game makers.

There is a big difference between alphabetic and logographic writing systems. Chinese kids are not "learning the alphabet" they are learning words like you learn vocabulary in english class. You dont seem to understand how the language works. Japanese also uses chinese characters (kanji) there is a japanese syllabary (kana) just because people are learning new Kanji every day does not mean they are "learning the alphabet" every day. The same goes for korean which has hanja and Hangul. These people are not "learning the alphabet". Ignorance is really bliss isnt it?

"and still be teaching people to read in highschool (see the Chinese alphabet - ask a native Chinese speaker how many grade levels they spent learning their alphabet sometime) rather than teaching other useful subjects (maths and science anyone?) during that time."

Good god. Sounds like another slashdotter going off on a rant not knowing what he is talking about but acting as if he does. You dont need to ask a native chinese speaker how many years they spent learning the chinese alphabet. I have the answer for you right here: ZERO. None. nada. Chinese has no alphabet. There is a phonetic system often called bopomofo written in a roman alphabet that is used to teach simplified chinese and that was made in the 50s.

Right, and the chinese are really hurting in the field of math and science.

This has got to be one of the dumbest posts on slashdot in a while. Not only is your cause non existant (the chinese alphabet) but your conclusion (the dearth of chinese scientists ) is also wrong.

You saw the map yourself. There are ZERO walmarts in the greater boston area. Appreantly one of them is accesable at the end of one T lines. Beyond that, AFIK you need a car to get to them. If you are like me and do not own a car, its not going to happen.
