  1. looks good on Sony Keynote Offers Hope For PlayStation 3 Fans · · Score: 1

but is a recreation of the sims/second life really worth 599 us dollas? these are nice additions but are hardly games. The little big world game was nice but as most sony fan boys say, it looks "kiddy" is this the "mature" gameplay sony is all about?

  2. useful on Do Reviews Still Serve a Purpose? · · Score: 3, Interesting

Reviews for games are like movie reviews. If you can find a reviewer(s) who have generally similar tastes, you will be able to judge a game with a fair degree of accuracy before you buy it. In addition without those rewiews, mega hit new games like God of War probably wouldnt be so big. I suspect a significant degree of its popularity came from people going to review sites and seeing the good reviews.

On the other end of the spectrum, how many more Final Fantasy fans would have bought Dirge of Cerebus had the reiwes not told us it was junk?

Jobs also (likely correctly) feels that the entire online music industry - of which iTunes is a huge part - would be MUCH better off without DRM.

That must be why he allows indie artists and studios to sell their music on iTunes without DRM.

if you want a good feel for how bad this open DRM is try using the new bittorrent store or even better with free TV try using the AOL In2TV great site with a ton of good content for free download. Yet after each commercial during the show, you need to go back to the site and get re authorized for the DRM. Absolute pain in the ass.

see the second reason? that would have been caught by an actual player but instead they relied on a video and did more damage to the ESRB in the process.

Yeah, and two replies deep -- after one anti-socialist rant -- gets you to this: I think you are taling about this
"Who the hell made you the arbiter of what's right and wrong? You?

I've about had it up to here with this New Slavery crap, this
pseudo-socialist movement in the Linux world being pushed by self styled
self aggrandizing arrogant ivory tower elitists intent on a fascist
enforcement of the licensing policies of THEIR choice dictated from
inside a closed circle-jerk where everybody pats themselves on the back
and laughs about how stupid the "outsiders" are. The Greg KH's and
Andrew Mortons of the world that are hell bent on telling programmers
how to license their own code at the point of a gun. It's repugnant,
just about as repugnant as this self-important arrogant post of yours."

Sounds reasonable to me. It is something people have been saying for ages. It also sounds anti-fascist the fact that once cant tell the difference between and anti-socialist and anti-fascist rant says alot about socialism...

That's the refutation to the argument that cell companies shouldn't play because they built the infrastructure. The deal is, they built the infrastructure on a property we all own. While we are discussing the "common good" maybe we should figure out who John Galt is.
