yeah, but still. x86 vs PPC is quite some different ship. Emulate one on the other is one thing, but you will loose performance. Plus there is so much software that would need to be compiled twice.
everybody who thinks now, P4 in Apple thinks wrong. If Apple will switch, then intel will build them PPC compatbile chips. Its very likley that Apple wouldn't use stock P4 stuff in their boxes.
yup, plus have to type in this retard code? for what? because I am alraedy logged in? perhaps they should send and auth to all users, so the user is authenticated. doing that for each post, when I am logged in as a user, this SUCKS
what 40$ is quite a lot. I paid 33$ here (3580Yen) and for wipeout pure I paied 42$ (4530Yen). I also picked up Ridge RAcers for also 42$.
When you cut down timewise, then Ridge Racers really pays off. It has quite a lot of tracks, cars and you play quite long (beginner, pro, ex), so you have long time fun.
Wipe Out I haven't played so much yet, it looks awesome, but I think it has too little tracks, etc.
Lumines definitly payed of each Yen I payed for it (actually I payed nothing, cause I used all my BicCamera points to get it). In the last weeks I only play this game. It's really addictive.
And for the costs. I think Lumines must have been quite cheap, just my guess, but I would be really interested to see how much it really cost to create the game.

seriously. One of the best games I have ever played is Lumines, and it was the cheapest game for my PSP.
Anyway, the article is so right in every point, and it just shows my double why I don't play much games anymore, and why I haven't bought a PC in more than 5 years...
Spotlight made my hair go grey. I just wanted to know where one file is, I knew the filename was something like "The List" or "TheList". So i type cmd+space and "List", and spotlight searched searched.... and after 5 minutes nothing.
So I opened a finder, and searched there, but also nothing, so I clicked on the red close finder window button and... finder crashed.
So I opend a shell and typed find . -name *List* and ~1min later I found the file.
Seriously.
Then I tried it again in the finder window, and suddenly it found it, but in the cmd+space spotlight window, still nada.
So from my point of view, when I really needed it, it totaly failed me. There is still a hard road ahead for spotlight.
Thank you so much. Really. Now you healed my from my addicition to download the latest show from Simpsons, American Dad, Family Guy, Enterprise, etc. Really thank you. Now I can finally go home and read a book.
On the other hand. A friend is totaly devestated (remark we don't live in the USA so we need to get the shows in some other way if we want to watch them). Where should he get his shows from. Well he proably has to start nag some friends. Like it happend when I was in school and I had cable and a friend not and I had to record all the shows to VHS (and I cut out the ads by hand == stop on commercial).
And last: supernova is gone and there are tons of others who replaced it, tvtorrent is gone too and if bfe net is gone also, then there will be other re-appearing. Its just like weed, you can rip it out from the ground but it will re-appear somewhere else.
netatalk can use all the fancy mac characters like / and : it might be a bit faster, but it was for me a hassle to setup because the main 2 line has no proper japanese for old mac os 9 clients...
there is already a 10.4.1 build in the dev tree. I didn't see the samba problem in the chanelog, but as it is a kind big one, I hope it will come in the next build.
I agree with you. Its super annoying that an "Gold" has these kind of errors. If it is with a super rare hardware or a super special software, okay.
but THIS? Has nobody there ever tried to connect to a SMB sever? It's kinda strange. Annoying. Every OS has this, everyone.
But I can imagine how this is, I can imagine this very good. The coders will say, we need to the test, the managers say, we need to release, and of course the managers are right, they get their bonus, because the release in time, and the coders then get the blaim for the code errors.
I am totaly with you. When I got my first Mac. The first thing I installed was DM. But it didn't work out. Nowadays I don't need Virtual Desktops anymore. As you said, when you use Exposee, Hide, etc. Then you are way more powerful. Especially F10 Esposee to show all windows of the current app, are the Virtual Desktop Killer for me. (at least at home)
Fact is that Apples Spotlight works, will be released very soon and is an amazing enrichtment for the desktop. Fiction is Longhorn, It might have a lot of features, but nobod knows, things should be so cool, but nobody knows and at the and really nobody knows when it might be released. So it is easy to say that it will be so better than Tiger.
Fact is, that when Longhorn comes out, Tiger will be so up to date, that Longhorn will look like an old beaten horse compared to it.
Seriously. MS release cycles are almost as slow as Debians... They both say "now" but then postpone until whatever date...
Although the review starts right well. When he starts saying that 10.4 is a Minor upgrade and that XP SP2 was a bigger upgrade, he put on his "I am paied by MS shoes".
So in 10.4 you have - new Browser release (major upgrade) - new Mail application - Automator: script everything in your system (he didn't even mention it, probably never opend the Application Folder) - Dashboard - complete new Core Programming: CoreSound, CoreGraphics, etc. Perhaps he should have installed the Developer tools and tried out the CoreGraphics demos there. Really great. - new Quicktime, with new Video compressing for better Video chat - conference Video chat - ACL (finaly) - Spotlight (as if this is minor, seriously)
and I probably forgot one or two things.
I don't know, but I feel, this is more a Major upgrade. Bigger than Windows 2000 to Windows XP. But hey, I use a Mac. Perhaps I turned into a Mac Zealot!
Windows supports less out of the Box, than Linux, FreeBSD or even Mac OS X.
eg: Ever tried to install a Windows XP on an new IBM Laptop: You will have a lot of lovely yellow Icons... Networkcard, Sound, etc OR digital Camera. If the camera doesn't act like an USB Storage you need drivers. Other than in Linux or Mac OS X. Actually Mac OS X is only plugin and it works.
Furthermore, Linux itself supports tons of Architectures, FreeBSD too, etc. And Windows? x86 only, there is not even public 64bit support out.
Yeah, I have this activted. I just remember back, the first time I saw it, it looked so different to windows and linux font rendering, I really had to get used to. But now I like it a bit:)
I agree on this. I am using Mac OS X at home and partly at office. And you really have to get used to the blurry fonts. Especially with japanese Characters it can get super fuzzy. But perhaps I should turn off the font smoothing for 8px:)
By guns, with the 4.3 million dollar we can buy guns, some guns, well not superguns, but normal ones, and we can send some more people to some country far far away to die there, for other people, who are damn rich... and dumb... and need oil. Or something, porbably they don't even know what the Universe is, besides Universal Studios... or so... GOSH... I wished I would be rich, I'd give them the money...
yeah and you forgot the hell will then definitly be a cold place.

Yes they do, but I haven't seen PSP games for rental here (Japan) yet. You can get tons of PS2, etc games, but for the portable consoles?
[btw, I am human, BFFXWVM]

blah
first there was Usenet and ftp, then came the first p2p, then bittorrent.
as long as there is a marked for movies to download people will do.
and as long as the movie industrie doesn't get it, they can wine and crie as long as they want, they will loose.
*sigh*
you don't need a cell cpu to produce any kind of WMD. See the people of '44 in Los Alamos and now the guys in N-Korea.

normal.
:)
I use Mozilla and Firefox and after one day of work it can be ~500MB per Browser. Lucky I have two gig of RAM.
Sometimes Mozilla goest totaly berserk and suckst 800 to 900MB of RAM. Then I know its time to restart

Perhaps IT needs a revolution.
actually you can be happy to get an error code. Because I don't get anything. Either he connects or he just spins and does nothing.
BRRR. Sometimes, this can be really annoying.

Who says that those drivers need to be built? Probably he never ever configured a single kernel in his live, never looked into one.
I think this braindead people would better be quiet. But sadly they are always in the positions to give off the most bullshit ever.
Again.
... They both say "now" but then postpone until whatever date ...
Compare: Facts vs Fiction

then I think this is BS. Why do we constrain? Excel doesn't have that anymore? Or is there a patent for max row lines?
