Doubtful. SGI was in worse shape for much longer and got through 2 bankruptcies before being bought ( cheaply ) by Rackable Systems which has since rebranded itself as SGI. They would have had to slash staff but they had plenty of valuable tech and still a few really big customers.
Welcome to English. I would propose sanctions against words that have multiple, conflicting meanings but am afraid that too many would not sanction that idea.
Everything Search is pretty awesome, for such a small program - but there are some caveats. One is that you'll use it to find, well, everything so your memory of where you put files will go straight to hell. But don't try to use it to search files by size - it's terrible at sorting a long list, especially across different devices and will warn you IF the attribute is anything other than the file name. For filename searching, it's fantastic and fast. If you want to find where your biggest files are, use another tool or filter your Everything searches by file type and then sort by size - of course this depends on how powerful your PC is, how fast your disks are and how many files of that type it finds. A few thousand isn't a problem for my PC, above that the program will hang for minutes at a time. But for filenames, it has no trouble keeping track of nearly a million files spread across 6 hard disks / 15 partitions
I see you're quite familiar with most of the denier canards. For an informative and entertaining rebuttal, go to YouTube and check out Greenman3610'sCrock of the Week videos - over 70 videos addressing the claims and distortions around AGW.
True, but the "real" Christian fundamentalists don't call them out on this and appear to support them, making them all a bunch of hypocrites and increasingly powerful and dangerous ones.
I've heard the "irreducible complexity" arguments before - the one that closet creationists such as Michael Behe thought they could beat the evolutionary forces over the head with was the bacterial flagellum. It was very widely used and probably still is by the ones who refuse to read biology texts.
But, it was refuted years ago, probably not long after Behe started preaching it. Ken Miller does a long, thorough talk on refuting the bacterial flagellum - it's a bit long but very informative, if you have an open mind. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVRsWAjvQSg
No, but a new, untested theory doesn't automatically disprove an older, also untested theory just because it sounds more plausible or because you like it.
If you think that fundamentalists are a small, insignificant portion of US society, you must not be familiar with a small, insignificant portion of the government known as Congress.
Chris Lattner started LLVM while in university, at least 5 yrs before Apple hired him. I gave Redhat top marks for a company contributing to open source and they seem to be the only ones who have yet to descend into assholery.
The US gov't already has a stockpile of over 3000 metric tonnes - 3 billion grams - that was produced decades ago and they're planning to destroy. Even if usable commercial thorium reactors are decades away ( I don't expect to see them ready for prime time in less than 20 years ), that's still a very stupid plan on their part. I've read that China has a stockpile as well, from the byproducts of iron an rare earth mining but can't find any estimate of the size.
While he's become the most memorable, he really didn't do anything wrong except act like an asshole, which is to be expected of cops, in general. Must be the steroids. The real problem was fuckers like Officer Goortani who beat the crap out of protestors but "couldn't be identified" even by his roommate, even from multiple photos taken, until the newspapers got involved.
Well, it's not only American cops. I see the Brits have triggered a riot by shooting someone who was reportedly unarmed. These mass riots aren't helpful, in my opinion, it usually leads to more police powers. But, for all that, the cops just can't restrain themselves - much like criminals. It reminds me of an old adage about shepherds and sheep. The fallout from the G20 meeting in Toronto, Canada last year was very instructive about how good the Blue Brotherhood is at closing ranks around their shadiest brethren. However, while they ran, most couldn't hide and several are up on charges.
I'm hardly arguing from ignorance and it's clear that cops frequently overreact, with dire consequences for their victims. Here's yet another example of police brutality resulting in death - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQDEFl4JYL8
I used to work next door to a pretty rough bar about 20 years ago - saw bouncers scuffling with patrons many, many times. Nobody ever died, one broken arm, one broken jaw and a few broken noses. And the bouncers didn't have tasers and didn't use batons no wear body armor ( some did wear heavy leather during the cooler months )

Looks like VLC may have caught up - http://wiki.videolan.org/VLC_GPU_Decoding , http://wiki.videolan.org/VLC_GPU_Decoding#Requirements_for_Windows_DxVA2_in_VLC
I don't do much transcoding myself but I've tried playing multiple vids in both MPC and VLC and the CPU usage barely budges with either.

Gah! "Make say" - stupid typo. I must stop trying to edit sentences in mid-stream-of-consciousness, just erase and start over.
If that's how it's going to be, my neighbor had better not make say a word about me not going to church on Sundays.
The ultimate money shot.

Patrick Swayze died just under 2 years ago but I'd still choose him over that lunatic Sheen in any fight.
Do you want to deprive $teve Job$ of revenue from the replacement of crappy......erm, highly innovative equipment?
"Obstetrical" - which orifice did you pull that one out of?

Do you mean plugins or add-ons? If you're referring to addons / extensions, do they work if you turn off version checking?

Please clarify your point? And we're talking about science, not war.
After 15 years of nearly daily visits to this site, I can tell you that a lot of that bullshit has been in the comments.

But I hope this is true - "Frankly, I'm not sure he's even interested in being a police officer anymore."
