Tesla may tout the benefit of having the pack as the floor and what it does for lowering the center of gravity but I'd still prefer to see the battery pack be no bigger than a conventional gas tank. In several frontal crashes, the pack caught fire and in one incident 2 people were trapped & burned to death. A smaller pack located elsewhere in the frame would have a much lower risk of catching fire due to a collision
